Publisher's summary

The challenges we face can be difficult even to think about. Climate change, the depletion of oil, economic upheaval, and mass extinction together create a planetary emergency of overwhelming proportions.

Active Hope shows us how to strengthen our capacity to face this crisis so that we can respond with unexpected resilience and creative power. Drawing on decades of teaching an empowerment approach known as the Work That Reconnects, the authors guide us through a transformational process informed by mythic journeys, modern psychology, spirituality, and holistic science. This process equips us with tools to face the mess we're in and play our role in the collective transition, or Great Turning, to a life-sustaining society.

Good for beginners in this work, despite winding story

This book had moments of great connection, but as a a whole is not scintillating for those immersed in this work or trained in the area.

Do recommend for those who are brand new to the topic

Narration undermines book

This is a book that demands a narrator who sounds as wise as a Joanna Macey is. Instead we have a narrator who sounds like she just may be graduated from high school and it doesn’t work. The subject is both serious and in terms of solutions complex. The narrator undermines the credibility of the book. It’s really too bad.

Great material, poor narration

The narrator is not the right person for this book. The information is highly valuable, though painful to listen to with such an extremist presentation. I think I’ll have to buy the book and read it.
