About this listen
The glamour is back . . . and with it, so is the High King of Avarath.
The fae prince, Nyx, has finally achieved what he and the others set out to do so long ago, but this time, it was not Delphine whose life ended on the High King's altar. It was her brother's.
With the High King awoken, all of Avarath and the human realm sits on the brink of war, with only one hope to save them. There's a loophole in the deal the high king once made with the humans, but in order to fulfill it, they're going to risk the wrath of yet another faerie court.
For there are three high courts of faerie: The Court of Avarath. The Court of Elysia. And the Court of the Afterworld.
Avarath was lucky that the final king of faerie turned a blind eye to the first war, but Avarath's luck has run out. One by one, the princes of Avarath fall to the glamour, to duty, to fate-until even a king crumbles, too. By the time that war is truly upon them, Delphine has finally come to understand what it is to now be fae, too.
If only she'd been cursed, instead. That would have been simpler. Then, at least, the whole of fate wouldn't rest on her shoulders, and hers alone.
Contains mature themes.

Delphine has been fae-marked from birth, treated as a curse despite the fact the once treacherous fae haven't been sighted in decades—in fact, no one in Delph's village has so much as laid eyes on one of the folk in nearly a century. Right up until a fae turns up on her doorstep, demanding Delph as down payment. No sooner has she set foot in the fae realm, however, then she learns she's no mere collateral in a deal made with the lord that owns her family lands. She was selected for a reason, hunted down for a single purpose.

Story
I've lived in the mud quarter my entire life, watching as the fireguards came every five years to select the prettiest girls to go to the Seat to start new lives. They get it all: husbands, houses without a speck of dirt, and enough food that hunger wasn't a constant pain in your belly. This year, it's my turn. The dragon that forces our kingdom to cower under our magnificent dome and hide behind stone walls hasn't shown any signs of leaving.

It turns out, I have a magic power needed to fight an evil fey king. I'm quickly whisked off to an elite spy academy in a hidden realm. There, in the ancient and gothic halls of Avalon Tower, snobbery and brutal competitions are among the oldest traditions.

Story
Mercenary Casia Greythorne cares about two things: completing whatever her latest job is and earning enough coin to buy the expensive medicine that's keeping her mentor alive. So when the king himself offers her a job, she can't resist the massive reward he offers - even if it means working with Captain Elander, the arrogant, mysterious right-hand to that king. Her partner may be infuriating, but at least their mission seems simple and quick enough: investigate the origins of the strange plague that's been ravaging their empire, help find a cure, and then call it a day.

Story
Perched between branches and shadows, we watch, we scheme, fighting for a kingdom forgotten and forlorn. Until we rip her away with our claws, our prisoner, our pawn, our plaything. She’s innocent and pure, fragile and helpless…but oh so guilty by blood. She calls us beasts, wicked and evil, vicious and cruel. We are all that and worse. One of us offers her shelter beneath his wings, whispering promises of pleasure, seeking redemption. The other longs to shatter her into a million pieces, whispering promises of pain, seeking revenge.

Story
My father called them messengers. He once told me they walked among us and that somewhere in this dark and godless city, there shined a faint sliver of hope. I had only to look for the signs. Well, I’ve spent my whole life investigating the inexplicable and all I've found are the unsettling vestiges of iniquity—the evidence of another world shrouded by the obscure. Purgatory to some, where depravity hides in shadows, and girls like me are little more than delicious bites of temptation. Others call it Nightshade.

To my kind, I’m nothing—not when strength is needed to survive the perpetual snow and ice that shrouds our northern continent in endless winter. Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Are you kidding
The story is not unrealistic because of the fantasy aspect but because no one in their right mind would act like these characters. This is just self serving acotar fan fiction.

Unfinished
I love Caitlin as a narrator- but this whole story line was awful. The series ended with SO many plots unfinished, no questions answered. It's like someone just made a fanfiction that should have stayed a fanfiction. By no means is this me bagging on fanfic- I write it and enjoy it myself- I just feel this shouldn't be a published book series, at least not yet.
It felt like it was written by an amateur. I loved the idea of these books- the execution was very disappointing. The whole series feels like a first or second draft. The ending felt like a bandaid was put over everything, or that the author was sick of writing the story and just half-assed an ending.
I'd LOVE if there was another book to truly finish all the story lines and tie everything together, but since there's not one I just feel like I wasted a lot of my time and money.
