About this listen

Eight years after Z-Day, the surviving remnants of mankind face the unknown. The fences and walls kept the ravenous undead at bay until they wasted away. A once overwhelming foe has turned feeble and weak, and a world gone wild seems ripe for reclamation.

The scars of the long war run deep. And hope is a dangerous thing when the real enemy might just be the survivors themselves.

Fun Book for Dystopian Fans with Grisly Characters Aplenty

I love the characters personalities and how the reader of the audio book made each one unique. Great book for when your brain is tired of work, and needs to just have some dark fun.

Most Memorable scene: The Crow's Nest, where Pete keeps watch over the community and teaches eagle-eyed youngsters the skill of sharpshooting.

Perfect moment: Miles' response to a razzing applied by members of a SEAL team during the first phase of their mission.

Amazing storyline, excellent storytelling

What did you love best about A Place Outside the Wild?

Though this book is categorized as post-apocalyptic military science fiction, there is a very strong human element. How would a band of survivors not only survive, but get along, after a zombie apocalypse? How do the active survivors deal with those others who cannot or are unwilling to assist? When the military finally does arrive to save the day, how do the townspeople react? The story is as much about real people with real conflicts as it is a survivalist tale.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Place Outside the Wild?

Tish, the med student-turned-town doctor, battles zombies and a human perpetrator in the clinic where her father and others are recuperating.

Which character – as performed by Christopher Check – was your favorite?

I enjoyed listening to the character of Lieutenant Ross. Very in-charge, calm and nice to listen to.

Any additional comments?

At an epic 40 chapters in length, A Place Outside The Wild is a lengthy but worthwhile listening experience, the world-builder that is the first book in a series. I look forward to hearing the sequel.

I was taken inside the Outside

Having never experienced a story like this, Chris definitely captured my attention, especially with his ability to go in and out of character with ease and articulate execution. I highly recommend A Place Outside the Wild. - d

Descriptive Details

I really enjoyed the detail in much of the story as scenes were flushed out, and the narration was quit relaxing and subtly engaging.
