About this listen

Clara
Unfairly convicted of a crime, I’m sent to serve the Kadrixan males for their rutting season.

The Kadrixans. Even their name inspires terror. Fiery-skinned and devil-like, they stand head and shoulders taller than any human man. Our colony made a terrible bargain with these monsters. The Kadrixans give us precious ore in exchange for the one thing they need.

Women. Like me.

When we meet our Kadrixan captors, I come face to face with a massive, brawny beast who claims I belong to him.
And not just for the rutting season. He wants me forever.

Krxare
I never expected to claim a human mate, but one look at the curvy female and I know she’s mine.

Hunger claws at my mind and that of every other warrior in my regiment. All of us are on the brink of the rut which makes us more belligerent with each passing day. Without females, we’ll tear each other apart with rage.

We depend upon our bargain. Human females for Kadrixan ore.

The females arrive and there is one who stirs my primitive desire: Clara. She thinks I’m a monster; I see it in her eyes and scent it in her fear. She vows to return to her people after the rut is over, but I vow to claim my mate, to woo her and prove she’s mine.

New series to love

I loved this book beginning to end. Wish it had a physical book for sale so I could proudly display this book trophy on my bookshelves. Can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series.

Meh...

Nothing spectacular about it. steamy scenes seemed to start out steamy...then fizzled out. It ok but could have been better. The cover is misleading when the female character is supposed to be a plus size (big) girl.

an enjoyable listen

I enjoyed the story overall, though it felt a bit rushed at the end. The world building was interesting, and the characters had a decent amount of depth.
The narrators were pretty good but the male narrator didn't give the male lead any emotion. His delivery made some moments fall a bit flat.

Exciting adventure

A corrupt “government” of a colony from Earth has many humans in poverty, while in the inner circle of the city the very wealthy live.
Clara, due to her circumstances, has to make a decision: go to Utopia or go to the “Kadrixan Monsters” during their rut. Overhearing the guards she learns the guards get paid well bringing humans to Utopia. Being angry because all kind of unfair things happening to her, plus being suspicious about Utopia, Cara chooses the Rut.
Needless to say to say, the Kadrixan warriors are not at all how they are pictured by the government. She meets Krxare as soon as she and other females are delivered. They get to know each other quite well.
When it looks like Clara and Krxare are getting their HEA, more adventures cross their path.

I very much liked the story, I also am very curious about this Utopia and I want to know what happens next. What will happen with Utopia, with the colony and the corruption? I need the next book!

Both narrators did a good job telling the story, and I liked most of their performances. But both also

had tones that distracted me in a more negative way:
The female voice was quite sharp with certain characters, which I don’t like. Still 4.5 stars. The male voice did nasal tones, which I didn’t like. But still 4.5 stars. I had to laugh when they did “Russian” accents when they acted the native inhabitants of the planet. That was quite fun to listen to.

I really enjoyed this audio book and the story! Can’t wait for the next one. I’m a big fan of this author!!

Delightful

This genre of paranormal romance is new to me and this is the first book I picked up. My oh my, the world the author created is wonderfully unique and loaded with potential. I didn't expect to like this story enough to give it a second listen so soon after finishing the other installments. It was a great introduction piece and I can't help but compare other novels in the same genre to this one. I look forward to reading about the future of the Kadrixan's and the expansion of the world around them. Hopefully we get to read more about their culture and their pasts along with the steamy relationships they have with their new mates. My only criticism is that the dialogue is a little rough around the edges because sometimes the aliens sound a little too much like young humans, Overall, this is a great series to get into. The voice actress is great. The male actor is tolerable however I wish he'd put more actual acting into his voice to sound more like an adult warrior instead of a whiny teenager. Eagerly awaiting the next book!

Terrific Kadraxian / Fated Mate Adventure!!

Clara has a tough choice. Her community sets up each person for failure. There are limited supplies for the general population, you are fined for multiple infractions and required to pay fees for everything. Once you are out of credits - which is tracked through a chip in your arm - you have a choice to go to "Utopia" or if you are female you may go to the Kadraxan rut for a season.

A fellow detainee convinces her that Utopia is a bad idea, so she chooses the rut. Turns out her guards get paid for each person then send to Utopia - sketchy

Once there, she finds a community of females that have chosen to stay and make it their home, many have found their mates. Females are held in high esteem and treated well. Maybe this can work.

Krxare knows Clara is his fated mate, but realizes he must woo her, as humans do not feel the mating pull. When Clara's brother goes missing, she feels she cannot stay.

Love the dichotomy of the communities and how the "monsters" are the "good guys". Entertaining, romantic and all-around enjoyable. The narrations were excellent.

Meh

Alot of things in this story seemed to happen due to plot armor or convenience. Possible spoilers: I feel the last 1:30ish hours of this book was completely unnecessary. Honestly I feel clara even having a brother was unnecessary ( unless this was the authors convoluted way leaving a back door open for another book series) I don't necessarily find Clara likeable, though her VA was fine. I could take or leave krixare, didn't find him charming or repulsive just a ML. The VA though... Although he has a great voice he gave krixare a whiny jock inflection rather than his normal speaking voice which was an odd choice. Also sometimes his "I" 's sounds like "my" which threw me off sometimes. I don't really care for the world nor the world building. The steamy scenes started nicely but always fell flat. If you like stories with miscommunication conflicts you will like this title. As for me, I don't think I'll be reading/ listening to any more.

Missing something

The first three quarters of the book is pretty boring. I'm thinking the author was trying to give us some background for the series, but so much was missing, while some could have been eliminated. Another problem for me is the jumping ahead to complete a scene.- Example- I need to go to the colony. Ok, I'm now at the colony.- More could have been put into this book to keep my attention.
As far as the narrators- meh. I've heard worse. The female narrator seems off on some of her pacing and emotions, just enough to throw you out of the listen. The male narrator is definitely not the best choice for a demon-looking alien. His voice has a nasally whine to it that just doesn't fit. I wish he had a deep bass voice with growly tendencies.
Will not continue this series.

Great World Building

Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Heat Rating: 🔥🔥🔥
Narrator Performance: Female: 🎧🎧🎧🎧.5 Male: 🎧🎧🎧🎧

GREAT WORLD BUILDING: In this SciFi Romance the aliens appear monstrous to the humans, hence the use of “Monster” in the title. The fierce, warrior aliens in this world look demonic. They’re red skinned with horns, black, leathery wings and their knees are backward. Their bare feet end in giant, black claws. What’s interesting about this story is that neither the humans nor the red skinned Kadrixan’s are native to the planet, Vokira. The humans have been on the planet for around three generations whereas the Kadrixan’s have only been there for about 20 years. Funnily enough, only the Kadrixan’s made nice with the intelligent indigenous peoples whereas the human have alienated them. Apparently even in the future the human race is still ignorant and wasteful. I’m wondering if in future installments of the series we will see war. I’d like for the Kadrixan’s to put the smack down on the humans for how they’re living. The human government is up to some shady 💩

COVER COMMENTS: Clara is a BBW. The woman on the cover is not. This cover was clearly designed specifically for this book so I would expect it to more accurately represent the FMC.

From Fated Mates To Forever Love

I love the Kadrixan warriors so much 🥰 This story goes to show that just because you’re fated mates, doesn’t mean you don’t have to work together to form a long lasting relationship. Watching these 2 work through so many twists & turns to get their HEA was quite the entertaining journey. Getting to listen to it brought to life by 2 awesome narrators was just icing on the cake. Their voices were well suited to the characters, and it felt like I was listening to real people tell their story. Absolutely loved it, and can’t wait for more books in this amazing series to get to audiobook 😍
