About this listen

In which, a 17-year-old apprentice dealer in rare books is sent from Paris to England by her father, to obtain incunabula and medieval books of devotion - and whatever secrets of political intrigue or finance may come to hand in the process. In the course of her business, though, Minnie meets Harold Grey (Lord John’s elder brother), the newly-widowed (and alarmingly deranged) Duke of Pardloe, and things fall out.

One of the two final novellas of Seven Stones to Stand or Fall.

Another good read by Gabaldon

I’ve read all of Diana Gabaldon’s books and some twice. I enjoyed this one about Hal’s life before Jamie Frazier. No reason this one can’t be a TV mini series too!

LOVE LOVE LOVE

All the back stories are great. It is so informative and just adds to the overall picture of the characters and how they intersect.

Love a good heist

It’s a wonderful side story with a minor heist intrigue to it. I look forward to seeing these characters again in the future books.

Loved the Background Info

While parts of the story were mildly slow I still give it 5 stars because I enjoyed the anticipation of the relationship and also because it gives light to some of the characters in the later books. I would definitely include this in future rereads!

Short and fun

I throughly enjoyed this shorter and lighter Outlander book. Please have Minerva included more often.

Intelligence, humor, and the canny abilities of the main character, a woman in the 1700s.

Diana Gabaldon can write!! I loved the humor and the brilliance of characters coming to life, the deliciousness of teatime and meals, and the scent of the 1700s. The reader’s voice and accents!
