About this listen
Nine Years after, the first of this series was selected by Amazon Kindle Reader's in 2023
It was also named a "Book to read" by Amazon editors
As civilization crumbles, a few people attempt their individual survival by whatever means they can. Preppers stock and prepare for their bleak futures, while others have been selected by the government to occupy secretly constructed vast below-ground sanctuaries. The powerful, wealthy, and top echelon of society are to be transported to the sanctuaries, where they might exist in relative comfort for years.
However, there are a few who discover rumors of the sanctuaries. An unlikely trio of a street mugger who finds others have little to steal as society declines, along with a deceptively intelligent young woman and an overweight man with the ability to make creative business deals, team up together. Their goal is simple. They want access into a secret government sanctuary that few know exist. To get there, they must travel through Portland, Oregon as riots flair, gangs destroy, and their timeline of opportunity closes.

Story
Three years have passed since the Jamaicans caused the apocalypse, and things in post-Armageddon Chicago have settled into a new kind of normal. Unfortunately, that "normal" includes collapsing skyscrapers, bands of bloodthirsty maniacs, and a dwindling cache of survival supplies. After watching his family, friends, and most of the non-sadistic elements of society crumble around him, Patrick decides it's time to cross one last item off his bucket list. He's going to Disney World.
