Publisher's summary

Maggie Crozat is back home in bayou country during the most magical time of the year. In Pelican, Louisiana, Christmastime is a season of giant bonfires on the levee, zydeco carols, and pots of gumbo. Except, this year, the Grinch has come to stay at the family-run Crozat Plantation B&B. When he floods travel websites with vicious reviews, Maggie thinks she's identified him as rival businessman Donald Baxter. That is, until he's found stabbed to death at Maggie's workplace. And Maggie and her loved ones become top suspects.

The Crozats quickly establish alibis, but Maggie's boyfriend, Detective Bo Durand, remains under suspicion. With Bo sidelined during the investigation, Maggie finds herself forced to work with an unlikely ally: longtime family enemy Rufus Durand. Her sleuthing uncovers more suspects than drummers drumming, and lands her in the crosshairs of the murderer.

The sleigh bells are jingling, and the clock is ticking for Maggie and Rufus, who must catch the killer, or it will be the opposite of a Joyeux Noël.

Not a great narration.

This third installment in the series was a pleasant little mystery, but used a different narrator than the first two. She managed to mispronounce the name of the town where the story takes place (“Yes, we Pelican-CAN”) as well as some of the characters names. This became quite annoying and really distracted from the story.

Live the series

Although I live the series, I detest the new narrator. I will continue with the series but suggest you get the previous narrator back. Thanks!

why new narrator?

liked this series with original narrator. can not continue with the new one. why didn't someone at least tell her it is peli-CAN not the bird. I had trouble with the new voices for characters and a hard time distiquising between them. if they are redone with original narrator I will pick them up again.

Horrible narrator!

This new narrator not only changed the pronunciation of the town and what she called her grand mere, but couldn’t even correctly pronounce common streets in New Orleans. The story was a nice continuation of the series but it took everything I had in me to get through the story. Bring back the narrator from the first two!

Not for me but wait

I would never have guessed that I would like such a silly, tame series but I fell in L0VE! The characters are charming and kind. I found myself assigning celebrities to the characters. All genuine. I did tire of the word “Chere” & only one “Com ce Com ca”?
If murder mysteries could somehow become nonviolent Ellen Byron did just that. Easy listening and still a little tension in the ramping up to the killer. The whole series is perfectly fitting for young precocious readers and for adults. I was actually sad to realize I had listened to all the books in the series.

Good story, but

story is entertaining, but the narrator is trouble. Flat, can't tell when speaking as difficult characters.

Cute story... different narrator meh

Amy did a decent job of narrating and her voice is similar enough to Meredith's that it would have been tough to tell them apart but for one annoying fact. Meredith stressed the pronunciation of the town as Peli-Can in the first two novels so every single time Amy pronounced it like the bird (pelican) I completely bristled. Amy beats Meredith for her French accented words though so in fairness she ranks the same rating as Meredith.

The story was a bit predictable, but a nice light mystery. I enjoyed the story and will buy the next as well
