About this listen

From rule breaking and risk taking to defensive communication and disrespect, parenting a teenager can feel like modern warfare - but it doesn't have to be that way. In 1-2-3 Magic Teen, internationally renowned parenting expert Thomas W. Phelan explains how to better understand your teenager, which problems are not worth fighting over, and why your child's behavior likely matches the definition of a normal adolescent. Many stories about the same concepts

Good beginning to parenting teens although the lessons are repetitive & stories tend to blend together.

Useful information and clear examples for how to use the tools

I enjoyed listening to this book. I wish I had listened it before my children entered teen years. It would have been so helpful. I recommend it 100 percent to all parents to prepare for teen years or in it.

Loved it.

In following the practical advice from this book the last 2 weeks I' ve already seen results. Thank you, thank you! The world would be a better place if you pass this info onto others! Oh and don't forget to include Jesus in this process. Pray, pray, pray!
God Bless!

The author is fantastic

That being said, read his original work on raising children prior to adolescence and then read this work. This one is a bit of a slow read initially. He takes a good amount of time to details key issues of adolescence and helping parents consider options toward remedy options. That part is a bit dry but get past that and the book becomes alive again.

I recommend parents of teens and maybe better parents of preteens to read this book in full. Should a reader choose to take action with any tips there will be need for some homework to get things together. For example, a contract for disciplinary options agreed upon by both the parent(s) and the adolescent. All in all the book is good and I recommend it. Just be prepared for some of the more dry sections in the middle!
