For students of Middle English, Andrew and Waldron's The Poems of the Pearl Manuscript has been the key edition of the four Pearl poems for over 30 years. With the changing needs of today's students in mind, the editors produced a complete prose translation of the four poems - the best known of which is "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight". The near-literal translations are intended to facilitate understanding of the four poems - to lead readers to, rather than away from, the original texts.

The classical poetry of Japan focuses on direct experience of fleeting moments, in total contrast with its Occidental counterpart. These seminal poems were passed down orally, before great collections reassembled works of art spanning several centuries in written form as early as the 8th century, from the Kojiki to the Kokinshu. Later, a number of female writers rose to prominence (Murasaki Shikibu, Sei Shonagon); then in the 17th century, the haiku form became extremely popular, in large part due to the work of Matsuo Bashō, a prolific writer and traveler.

Ultimo erede maschio della famiglia, di antico patriziato, è considerato un genio assoluto della poesia erotica in lingua veneziana. Autore di oltre mille e duecento poesie scritte su fogli volanti a diffusione estemporanea e cittadina, non volle mai pubblicarle in vita. Circa settecento furono raccolte in volume in un'edizione postuma, nel 1771, fintamente edita nell'immaginaria città di Cosmopoli per evitare problemi di censura.
