I can get an aerial, 360-degree view of my surroundings to make sure I am safely backing out of my garage. I can type-in GPS coordinates for a vacation destination and know, to the minute, when my family and I will arrive safely to where we’re going. All of the modern amenities that you could possibly wish for, but, still, an unexpected invention from the turn of the 20th-century remains to be one of the most crucial to safe and stress-free drive than any of these.

As a child, it’s reported, that he survived a fall of some three-stories, he drank acidic water that he mistook for milk, swallowed a rather large needle, was hit on the head by a large stone, suffered severe burns from a gunpowder explosion, fell into a river and nearly drowned, and, yes, went on to invent one of the most significant, popular musical instruments the world has ever seen….
