In Episode 2025_27 of The Martial Arts Lifestyle Podcast, host Tim Becherer interviews Wisconsin based martial artist Shawn McCarthy. Shawn has a background in karate, tae kwon do, tournament, and full contact fighting. In 1982 he discovered the Filipino Martial Arts which lead him to The Minnesota Kali Group and becoming a student under the legendary Rick Faye. From there, he gained his instructorship under Guro Dan Inosanto as well. He is the head instructor and founder of Combined Fighting Systems. Tune in and hear his story.

Clarrel started his martial arts journey as a young boy and his first lessons were in Judo in Japan. As a teenager he studied the Chuck Norris System and eventually JKD, Kali, and Muay Thai under Navy Seal Frank Cucci. Clarrel moved to southern California and his skills in martial arts including Capoeira and his connections to the Inosanto Academy got him an introduction to Jeff Imada and he began a career in stunts. In Episode 2025_22 of The Martial Arts Lifestyle Podcast, host Tim Becherer interviews Texas based Martial Artist Linda Tenberg. Being of Thai lineage, Linda sought out Muay Thai as her first martial art in the early 1990's. Linda's search brought her to an Inosanto lineage school and she not only dove into Muay Thai training but also into the Filipino Martial Arts, Jeet Kune Do, and Silat. A strong desire to compete had her looking at the available formats for female combat sports. With MMA in its infancy and Muay Thai starting to gain ground as a male sport, she found her place in women's boxing. Today she is a practicing Accupuncturist and martial artist in Austin Texas. Luigi is co-owner and one of the head instructors at NuBreed Martial Arts Academy in Whitestone NY. Luigi pursued music and after plenty of scraps with rough gang members in Los Angeles, decided he needed to learn how to fight. After attending the Smokey Mountain Camp in 1987 and training with legendary martial arts teachers Guro Dan Inosanto, Ajarn Chai Sirisute, and Sifu Francis Fong, he was hooked. Fate would have it that an old training acquantance, Alex Chan was looking to start a school and Luigi partnered with him to build the now almost 3 decade strong Nubreed Martial Arts Academy.
