Beautifully told
This is such a devastating story about a system that is broken. It destroys people. JJ and his family never deserved this, and I am so very sorry that they’ve had to endure such hardship. But what a testimony! Strength, resilience, love, and friendship were the threads that tied the narrative together beautifully. It was so well told. I truly wish full lives for everyone from here on out, and EXONERATION for JJ soon!

Wow! I haven’t ever cried this much during a podcast before but this was amazingly well done.
Wrongful convictions are an issue that needs addressing ASAP it seems that there is a lot of power in the prosecutions office and there is zero accountability if they put the wrong person away, how these people sleep at night is just a mystery to me.
Thinking about JJ’s sons and how young they were when this happened and how old they were when he got out makes me so sick to my stomach that time he can never get back…. This issue of wrongful convictions should outrage the public because u know what it could happen to anyone of us or one of our loved ones at any time and if u have police that have a hot head and don’t care about the truth and just care about throwing the cuffs on someone this should scare the *hit out of everyone!! The other thing that needs to change is when we find that someone’s been wrongfully convicted it should not take another decade or more to them get them out of the jail..
What good is it doing society to have a person in prison that didn’t commit the crime? Meanwhile the shooter has been able to live his entire life free even though like 20+ people know exactly who did it and where he is.
It’s maddening!!! If your a cop and you investigate case’s remember that oath u took to keep the people safe how are u even remotely holding that up when you let the shooter go free and lock up someone who wasn’t even in the same town as the crime the day of the crime? Then I’m most cases whoever did kill will kill again and now that’s 100% on your conscience and you should go serve time right along with the shooter as an accomplice because u didn’t care about the truth u just wanted to arrest anyone.

Speechless
I am so proud of the Men, in this story. JJ mother is a saint. I wish the prison system did rehabilitate. My nephew is a frequent flyer of jail. He has major anger (rage) issues that stem from his childhood. This story is real, cried like a baby. Thank you for sharing

Loved the story and that they never gave brought tears to me on how unfair the system we are supposed to trust in is so wrong.

Wonderful storytelling
This podcast was incredibly interesting and quite captivating. I had to listen to the next episode as fast as I could. Like binge listening. It’s a very compelling story, an account of a sad state of affairs and a hope for tomorrow. Never give up!!

Unjust
The most awful story, (,situation wise) that I have heard! JJ is a hero by the way he held up in prison. I'm from New York and was horrified at the justice system. I cannot imagine a young man being ignored for so long and incarcerated for something he didn't do. Dan is a wonderful person and a compassionate friend. I thank God he is "freer" and pray his record is cleaned soon. Congratulations JJ on being a grandpa. May your future be full of love, freedom and happiness. Also to his mother who endured lots of pain while he was away, I wish lots of happiness with your son and his grandchildren.Peace.💓❤🙏

Very well done!
I’m so impressed with what he did with his time in prison. He would have been justified in being angry and bitter but instead used his time to educate and better himself and to help others. What an inspiration!
