Objectivity
I have no idea if this review is going on the episode I'm listening to or the podcast as a whole, but this comment is for the one about women in science bringing discrimination to light in 1999. The author said something to the effect of 'if any field would be merit based, it would be science'--and I think this is the whole problem. Although we should aspire to it, no one can be totally objective. Scientists think they're objective, so they're far less likely to recognize bias in themselves or others. We need to stop holding science up as a bastion of objectivity and truth--because, as this podcast shows all the time, it's not. Everything is a humanity. Science needs to recognize its bias before it can move forward--a historian.
