  • Resumen

  • The Nicklebys feel happier than they have in a long time. Mrs Nickleby discusses Frank with Kate and Miss La Creevy, Tim Linkinwater and Frank come to visit. They hear a strange noise and discover the next-door neighbour hanging from the chimney. The neighbour loudly declares his love for Miss La Creevy. Later, Nicholas returns and he and Kate go and talk to Smike who had shut himself in his room.

    Meanwhile Sir Mulberry and Lord Frederick have returned from France and spend the day at Camden races. A lot of drink is consumed and a deadly fight breaks out. Arthur Gride prepares for his wedding and discusses his plans with his housekeeper. Noggs begins to grow suspicious of Ralph’s actions and shares his fears with Nicholas. They put two and two together and discover a shocking plot involving Madeline.

Performance perfection

This reader is superb!! Each voice for each character perfect and so beautifully rendered that the characters are alive. I have never listened to a more diverse and emotionally powerful performance of Dickens!
