Luke 1:1-25 and 67-80 -John the Baptist, the forerunner of Jesus, is a significant person in many ways. His parents, the prophecy about him, birth, name, life style, the baptism he did, his message to the world, and death are very significant in the Bible. He is a martyr who was killed because he stood for truth and the law.

The prophecy about John the Baptist made seven centuries before his birth that he would be the forerunner of Christ came true. His birth, his righteousness, his testimony about Jesus, and his death proves that God will carry out His plans in miraculous ways. The world may not accept our righteousness, but heaven receives those who dedicate their lives for truth and justice. We just need to be bold and truthful like John the Baptist. We will get blessed.

This verse clearly explains the relationship between Jesus and a true Christian. A whole plant of any kind has a life of its own. A vine plant is full with its branches. When one branch is cut off from the vine plant, that branch does not have a life of its own. It cannot bear fruit on its own. It will be thrown into the fire, and it gets burned. Similarly, when we are not with Jesus, we useless like a cut off branch which is useless. The meaning of us abiding in Jesus and Jesus abiding in us are discussed.

Every individual is the citizen of a country. Being a citizen, he or she can claim the rights and protection of that country. Along with the rights come some responsibilities also. They have to follow the laws of that country. Some people acquire citizenship in the country they migrate to. Their citizenship comes with the package of rights and responsibilities too. God has offered the entire humanity citizenship in heaven. It comes as a package with rights and responsibilities also. We have our entire life on earth to prove our qualification for the heavenly citizenship. As Satan knows this, he tries really hard to block our citizenship in heaven.

What are the documents in heaven? -There is a Book in heaven as per Psalm 69:28 and Exodus 32:33, Psalm 139:16, Psalm 56:8, Daniel 7:10, Daniel 12:1, Isaiah 65:6, and Hebrew 12:23. The Book of Life is mentioned in Philippines 4:3, Revelation 3:5, Revelation 13:8, Revelation 17:8, and Revelation 20:12 and 20:15. In Revelation 20:12 there is a reference of books other than the Book of Life.

How God has made us eligible for the heavenly citizenship and the requirements for that citizenship are discussed.

Most of us attend church and listen to sermons by a priest or pastor. Some of us read the Bible on a regular basis knowing that it is the word of God. In the Bible we see occasions when God spoke to people directly, like Moses and Abraham. They were very ordinary people. Also, we can see God spoke to us through prophets, who were ordinary people. Something usually we ignore is what an ordinary person speaks to us about matters of God. It is very important to know that God speaks to us through ordinary people even today. A few examples from the Bible where God spoke through ordinary people are discussed.

2ndKings 5:2, 3 – “Now the Arameans had gone out in bands and had taken captive a little girl from the land of Israel; and she waited on Naaman’s wife. She said to her mistress, “I wish that my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! If we pray to God, God’s angels will watch over us. God miraculously connects us with the right people in the right time to deliver the right message to us or to direct us in the path we need to go. Our hearts and minds should be open to receive message from others and to deliver the right message to others.

Matthew 24:29-31 – “But immediately after the tribulation of those days the son will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. There are three different interpretations or teachings about the timing of the second coming of Jesus on the clouds to pick up His loved ones from the dead and the alive. The second coming is called rapture also. Before His coming, there will come a big tribulation in the world. The interpretations are that He will come before the tribulation begins or in the middle of the tribulation or after the tribulation. The only way we can confirm the timing of the coming of Jesus on the clouds is by reading the word of God from the Scriptures. According to the Scriptures, the coming of Jesus on the clouds will be towards the end of the tribulation period. The saints of God will be on the earth during the tribulation. The way Jesus comes, the different tribulations, the signs of the end times, and the things that should happen before that are discussed.

Abraham is one of the most important figures in the Bible. Abraham is recognized as the patriarch of the Israelites, Ishmaelites, Edomites, and Midianites. The life of Abraham is a testament to the power of faith, obedience, and trust in God. Abraham had a long and challenging journey. Throughout this journey, he worked hard and experienced grief and blessings. We know through Abraham that God always keeps His promises. We may not have all the answers but God surely does. The life and legacy of Abraham continues to influence the world today. Despite the challenges he faced, he remained steadfast in his commitment to God. Additionally, his covenant with God is seen as a precursor to the New Covenant established by Jesus Christ. Abraham is mentioned many times throughout the books of the Old Testament and New Testament. When we commit to obey God, we will be blessed through generations.
