  • Lake Fork Fishing Report: Memorial Day Weekend Bounty
    May 25 2025
Hey there, folks! Artificial Lure here with your Lake Fork fishing report for this fine Sunday morning, May 25th, 2025.

It's Memorial Day weekend, so first off, I wanna give a big salute to all our nation's heroes. Also, just a heads-up - there's plenty of recreational boaters out celebrating, so keep your wits about ya on the water today.

Lake Fork is sitting at about 0.32 feet above pool with water temps holding steady between 73-78 degrees. Water's a bit stained in spots but still relatively clear in many areas despite some recent rains.

The bass fishing has been GOOD, y'all! These post-spawn bruisers are hitting topwater like nobody's business. Early morning is prime time - get out on those points where the shad are spawning. Diesel chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, and KVD sexy dawgs are tearing it up on the surface. If you're hitting the grass and pond weed in 1-4 feet, throw some frogs and hold on tight!

As the morning wears on, switch to mid-running crankbaits in the 2.5-3.5 inch range, working points in 5-7 feet. For the afternoon bite, Carolina rigs are producing offshore on points and high spots in the 12-16 foot range.

The crappie fishing is straight-up dynamite right now! We got a tremendous population of black crappie stacked up on all kinds of structure in 12-28 feet. The white crappie are also loading up on certain trees.

Catfish are cruising shallow in 2-4 feet, and the big ol' bream have moved shallow too. For you fly fishers, small clousers and wooly buggers are producing some real nice fish.

Hot spots this weekend? I'd hit Caney Point early for that shad spawn action, then move out to main lake points as the day heats up. The secondary points off the main channels have been holding some real nice post-spawn females too.

For those wanting specifics, you can't go wrong with the pond weed in the backs of coves for frog fishing, and those offshore humps in 12-16 feet are holding schools of bass that'll make your drag sing!

Sunrise was at 6:14 AM with sunset coming at 8:27 PM, so you still got plenty of daylight to get after 'em.

Y'all be safe out there, remember to hydrate, and don't forget to take a youngster fishing if you get the chance. Nothing better than seeing a kid's face light up with their first big Lake Fork bass!

Till next time, this is Artificial Lure saying tight lines and God bless from the big bass capital of Texas!

  • Lake Fork Fishing Report: Springtime Action and Trophy Potential
    May 24 2025
Howdy folks, this is Artificial Lure with your Saturday Lake Fork fishing report for May 24, 2025. If you’re looking for some springtime action, you’ve picked a fine day—conditions are setting up just right for a memorable trip.

Sunrise hit right around 6:15 AM and sunset will be close to 8:15 PM, so there’s ample daylight to chase those famous Lake Fork bass. The weather’s classic East Texas May: warm mornings that heat up quick, with a touch of humidity lingering over the water. The lake’s just a hair above pool, and water temps are running between 69 and 78 degrees, ticking hotter late in the day as this recent warm stretch keeps on[1][2][3].

The bite’s solid with fish active in all stages of the spawn—some bass are still shallow, some guarding fry, and others already pushing to deeper water. Early mornings have been lights-out in the shallows, especially where shad are up spawning. Look for bass feeding aggressively on main and secondary points, particularly around pondweed and submerged grass. A white or black buzzbait, frog, or walking topwater will get you explosive strikes at first light. After the sun climbs, squarebill crankbaits and wacky-rigged soft plastics in three to six feet around wood and shallow cover have been producing steady numbers[3][4][5].

As the day rolls on, move out to secondary points in 8 to 16 feet and target bass with Carolina rigs, big ribbon-tail worms, or deep-diving crankbaits. Keep your eye out for bird activity—blue herons and gulls can tip you off to the last pockets of shad spawn. For numbers, focus on spots like Little Caney Creek and the points around Mustang and Williams Creek. If you’re trophy hunting, the edges of big main lake points near the dam and the roadbeds by the 515 bridge have given up a few heavyweights lately[3][4].

Crappie are moving deeper but some keepers are still hanging around brush piles in 12 to 18 feet, especially early. Chartreuse and white jigs have been the best bet. Catfish are shallow and hitting well on cut bait and punch bait throughout the lake’s coves and creek mouths.

Hot spots today: try the mouth of Little Caney at sunrise for a quick limit, or slide over to Mustang Creek mid-morning to intercept bass moving out. Don’t overlook the deeper channel swings at the main lake points later in the afternoon.

Best baits right now: white or black buzzbaits, popping frogs, squarebill cranks in shad or chartreuse, wacky Senkos, Carolina rigs with watermelon or plum worms, and XD 5-6 deep cranks. For crappie, go with chartreuse jigs, and for cats, you can’t go wrong with punch bait.

That’s your Lake Fork report for today. Good luck out there, and if you hook a monster, send me a picture. Tight lines, y’all[1][2][3][4][5].

  • Lake Fork Fishing Report: Post-Spawn Bass Crush Topwater, Crappie Bite Heats Up
    May 23 2025
Good morning from Lake Fork, this is Artificial Lure with your fishing report for Friday, May 23, 2025.

It's shaping up to be another beautiful day here in East Texas. We're looking at temps climbing into the mid-80s by afternoon with a light southerly breeze - perfect conditions to be out on the water. Sunrise was just after 6:15 AM and we'll see sunset around 8:20 PM, giving you plenty of daylight to work with.

Lake Fork is sitting about 0.3 feet above pool level, continuing to hold steady after our spring rains. Water temps have climbed nicely into the 73-80 degree range, with the afternoons seeing those higher readings. Clarity remains good in most areas, with some stain in the backs of creeks.

The post-spawn pattern is fully established now, with most bass having completed their spawning ritual. They're hungry and active! Early morning topwater action has been outstanding this week, especially around pondweed and shallow grass lines. I've had great success with frogs and buzzbaits in that first hour of daylight. Once the sun gets up, switch to squarebills and wacky rigs around wood in 3-6 feet of water.

By mid-morning, you'll want to shift out deeper to main lake and secondary points in the 12-16 foot range. Carolina rigs with big worms or lizards have been producing quality bass, and deep-diving crankbaits like the XD series are triggering reaction strikes. The occasional football jig dragged slowly across points has been picking up some larger post-spawn females.

Crappie fishing has been excellent as they transition to deeper structure. Bridge pilings and brush piles in 15-22 feet are holding good numbers. Small jigs in chartreuse or white have been the ticket.

Catfish action is heating up in the shallows, particularly in the backs of coves with some timber.

For hot spots, I'd recommend trying the points around Caney Creek early for that topwater bite, then moving to Mustang Creek's main lake points as the day progresses. The bridge at 515 has been holding good numbers of both bass and crappie lately.

Remember to keep an eye out for blue herons - they'll show you where the baitfish are active. The shad spawn is tapering off but still happening in some areas at first light.

This weekend is looking prime for big fish - don't miss your chance to hook into one of Lake Fork's famous lunkers! This is Artificial Lure signing off until next time. Good fishing, y'all!

  • Lake Fork Fishing Report - May 21, 2025: Topwater Bites, Crappie Stacking, and Catfish Moving Shallow
    May 21 2025
Howdy, folks! This is Artificial Lure comin' at ya with your Lake Fork fishing report for this fine Wednesday morning, May 21st, 2025.

We've been blessed with some mighty fine fishing weather lately! Water temps have climbed nicely and are now sitting between 73-78 degrees across most of the lake. The recent warm spell has really kicked things into high gear after that long stretch of cooler weather we had earlier this spring. Lake level is right around full pool, about 0.40 feet above normal as of last week.

The bass fishing continues to be outstanding as we're right in that sweet spot between post-spawn and early summer patterns. Those big ol' girls have recovered from the spawn, which was one of the best I've seen in years, and they're hungry! Your topwater bite is absolutely fantastic in the early mornings, especially around areas with shad spawn activity. Look for birds working points and throw those chatterbaits and small spinnerbaits for consistent action.

Once the sun gets up a bit higher, I'd recommend switching to flukes and wacky rigs around grass edges in 1-3 feet of water. Texas-rigged plastics have been producing well in the slightly deeper vegetation. Don't overlook those rocky areas either – slow dragging or cranking has been turning up some quality fish.

Crappie fishing has transitioned to typical early summer patterns. They're stacking up on brush piles, laydowns, bridges and docks. You'll find them anywhere from 10-30 feet deep – some holding just a couple feet under the surface while others are hugging bottom. Both minnows and jigs are working well, with color not being too critical right now.

The catfish bite has been heating up too, with many fish moving shallow. Fresh cut bait or prepared stinkbaits are your ticket there.

For hot spots, I'd recommend checking out the areas around Caney Point Recreation Area, where the lake's been particularly productive. Also, the northern creek arms have been holding some monster bass early in the mornings.

For those new to the lake, hiring a guide for a day might be your best bet to learn these waters quickly. There's a reason Lake Fork is legendary for trophy bass!

That's your Lake Fork fishing report for today, May 21st, 2025. Y'all get out there and tight lines to everyone! This is Artificial Lure signing off until next time.

  • Lake Fork Fishing Report 5/19/2025: Bass Bite, Crappie Transition, and Catfish Shallow
    May 19 2025
Good morning from Lake Fork, this is Artificial Lure with your latest fishing report for Monday, May 19, 2025.

The weather today is shaping up classic for May in East Texas: expect mild morning temps that rise fast, with a bit of humidity hanging over the water. Sunrise is just after 6:15 AM and sunset will come around 8:15 PM, so there’s a good long window for chasing that trophy bass bite. The lake’s sitting about 0.4 feet above pool, and the water temperature’s been running 69 to 78 degrees, trending toward the warmer end in the afternoons as this last week’s heat kicks in[1][2][4].

Fish activity is solid across the board. Bass are fair to good right now, especially early, when they’re pushing shad up shallow on main and secondary points. The topwater bite really fires up at first light in the pondweed and shallow grass, especially if there’s a breeze—bring your favorite frog pattern or buzzbait for that. After the sun gets up, switch to squarebill crankbaits or wacky rigs in three to six feet, then start probing secondary points in 5 to 16 feet with Carolina rigs, deep-diving cranks like the XD 5-6, or big worms. The shad spawn isn’t quite finished in some areas, so keep an eye out for birds, especially Blue Herons, to clue you in on bait activity[3][4][5].

Crappie fishing is transitioning into the summer pattern. Numbers of small black crappie are thick on brush piles, laydowns, docks, and bridges, but the bigger black crappie are harder to come by. Still, you can catch them by sifting through the smaller fish, and the large white crappie are stacking up on deeper summer pattern trees. Fish anywhere from 10 to 30 feet, using minnows or colored jigs. Sometimes the crappie are hugging just below the surface or right on the bottom, so watch your electronics closely[4].

Catfish are prowling the shallows—channel cats in two to four feet are taking cut bait and punch bait, and big bream have moved in shallow, eager for worms, small jigs, or even wooly bugger flies if you’re fishing ultra-light[4].

As for hot spots, check out the points and submerged timber near SRA Point and the area around the east arm near Little Caney. Both spots have been producing quality bass and crappie as fish transition from shallow to deeper post-spawn locations[3][5].

Best baits today: topwater frogs at sunrise, squarebills and wacky rigs early, then Carolina rigs, crankbaits, and drop shots out deeper by midday. For crappie, anything with a minnow or small bright jig head is working well, and for channel cats, stick with punch bait or cut shad.

That’s it from Lake Fork today. Tight lines and good luck out there!

  • Catching Post-Spawn Bass and Crappie on Lake Fork's Warm Summer Waters
    May 17 2025
Howdy folks! Artificial Lure here with your Lake Fork fishing report for this fine Saturday morning, May 17th, 2025.

The water's sittin' pretty at about 73 degrees with that stained clarity we've been seein' lately, and the lake level is runnin' about 0.40 feet above pool. That's some prime fishin' conditions!

We've been blessed with a warm-up these past couple weeks, with water temps now ranging from 69-78 degrees depending on where you're at on the lake. This warm spell has really fired up the post-spawn activity across the board.

For you bass anglers, the early morning topwater bite is absolutely on fire! Get out there at first light and throw them frogs in the shallow grass and pond weed areas. The bass are fair on points with spawning shad in the early hours - and let me tell ya, when there's a bit of wind, it gets even better. Once the sun climbs higher, them bass are staging in 5-10 feet of water on secondary points, so switch to Carolina rigs and crankbaits like XD 5-6.

If you're working the shallows, try them square bills and wacky rigs around wood in 3 to 6 feet early. By mid-morning, you'll want to move out deeper to them main lake and secondary points in the 12 to 16 foot range.

Crappie fishing has settled into that post-spawn summer pattern, with loads of small black crappie stacking up on brush piles, laydowns, bridges and docks. The bigger white crappie are starting to load up on them summer pattern trees. You'll find fish anywhere from 10 to 30 feet deep, sometimes just 2 feet under the surface or hugging the bottom. Both minnows and jigs of any color are producing well.

For you fly fishermen, them bream have moved shallow, and wooly buggers are bringing in some good-sized fish. Channel cats are cruising in 2-4 feet and hitting clousers real nice.

Hot spots this week: Hit the Highway 515 bridge area early for them topwater bass, then scoot over to Mustang Creek for the mid-day bite. The points around Glade Creek have been holding some lunkers too. For crappie, try the brushpiles near the State Park or the timber around the FM 17 area.

Remember, them fish are still a bit finicky after the spawn, so slow down your presentation if you ain't getting bit. This time of year, patience pays off big!

Y'all have a blessed weekend out on the water, and remember to keep them lines tight! This is Artificial Lure signing off from Lake Fork - the big bass capital of Texas!

  • Lake Fork Fishing Report: Topwater Bite Hot, Crappie Stacking Up, Catfish and Bream Moving Shallow
    May 16 2025
This is Artificial Lure bringing you your up-to-the-minute fishing report for Lake Fork, Texas, Friday May 16th, 2025.

We’re starting the day with water temps running between 69 and 78 degrees across most areas, with stained clarity and a lake level hovering just a hair above pool. Sunrise today hit at 6:19 AM and you’ll have light to fish all the way until sunset at 8:18 PM. There’s no tidal movement to worry about on Lake Fork, but the wind’s been kicking up now and then, which is helping that shallow bite[1][3].

Let’s talk fish activity. Black bass are in a post-spawn mood and they’re hungry. The early morning topwater bite has been red-hot—those frog patterns and small poppers in the shallow grass and pondweed are working like a charm. As the sun rises, move over to points, both shallow and secondary, where fish are staging in 5 to 10 feet. Carolina rigs, drop shot, and crankbaits have all been solid producers, especially if you’re near any shad spawn action. Keep an eye out for blue herons—they’ll point you right to the shad and the bass. If you’re looking to change it up, throw a wacky rig or a fluke along the grass edges in 1 to 3 feet, particularly on the lower end of the lake[2][3][4][5].

Crappie are coming into their summer pattern now. We’re seeing plenty of smaller black crappie stacking up on brush piles, lay downs, bridges, and docks. The bigger white crappie are starting to hold out on deeper trees, but all sizes are responding well to both minnows and jigs of any color. Fish are in 10 to 30 feet of water, some right near the surface, others hugging the bottom. The catfish bite has been fair in 2 to 4 feet of water on cut bait and clousers, while big bream have moved shallow and are eating up wooly buggers[3].

For those looking to capitalize, your best bets for lures right now are frogs in the early morning, chatterbaits and spinnerbaits near shad activity, and Yum Dingers or flukes along grass and points. Crappie anglers should rig up with live minnows or brightly colored jigs, especially around brush piles and bridge pilings[2][3][4].

A couple hot spots to target: try Little Caney Creek early for the topwater bite, and then move to the points near the 515 West bridge as the sun climbs. Don’t overlook Wolf Creek either—plenty of fish holding off the main-lake points there, especially with a little wind[2][3][5].

That’s the latest from Lake Fork. Tight lines and good luck out there today!
