Howdy, folks! This is Artificial Lure comin' at ya with your Lake Fork fishing report for this fine Wednesday morning, May 21st, 2025.

We've been blessed with some mighty fine fishing weather lately! Water temps have climbed nicely and are now sitting between 73-78 degrees across most of the lake. The recent warm spell has really kicked things into high gear after that long stretch of cooler weather we had earlier this spring. Lake level is right around full pool, about 0.40 feet above normal as of last week.

The bass fishing continues to be outstanding as we're right in that sweet spot between post-spawn and early summer patterns. Those big ol' girls have recovered from the spawn, which was one of the best I've seen in years, and they're hungry! Your topwater bite is absolutely fantastic in the early mornings, especially around areas with shad spawn activity. Look for birds working points and throw those chatterbaits and small spinnerbaits for consistent action.

Once the sun gets up a bit higher, I'd recommend switching to flukes and wacky rigs around grass edges in 1-3 feet of water. Texas-rigged plastics have been producing well in the slightly deeper vegetation. Don't overlook those rocky areas either – slow dragging or cranking has been turning up some quality fish.

Crappie fishing has transitioned to typical early summer patterns. They're stacking up on brush piles, laydowns, bridges and docks. You'll find them anywhere from 10-30 feet deep – some holding just a couple feet under the surface while others are hugging bottom. Both minnows and jigs are working well, with color not being too critical right now.

The catfish bite has been heating up too, with many fish moving shallow. Fresh cut bait or prepared stinkbaits are your ticket there.

For hot spots, I'd recommend checking out the areas around Caney Point Recreation Area, where the lake's been particularly productive. Also, the northern creek arms have been holding some monster bass early in the mornings.

For those new to the lake, hiring a guide for a day might be your best bet to learn these waters quickly. There's a reason Lake Fork is legendary for trophy bass!

That's your Lake Fork fishing report for today, May 21st, 2025. Y'all get out there and tight lines to everyone! This is Artificial Lure signing off until next time.
