Acerca de esta escucha

Welcome to La Mesa con Papi, I'm Stephanie Nemeroff. You may know me from my previous podcast, Boozy Love. This past year has transformed my life in incredible ways—I embraced marriage, and motherhood, and gained invaluable insights throughout this journey. Now, I'm thrilled to return to podcasting at this pivotal moment. After two enriching years of major life changes—welcoming our baby, getting married, and pivoting my career—I'm back with an exciting addition: my dad joins me as co-host. Together, we'll explore my adventures raising a spirited one-year-old alongside my wonderful husband, tackling the unique challenges and joys of young motherhood. I'm here to share not just my story, but to connect with others navigating parenthood in their twenties while building their lives. My dad brings his valuable perspective as an empty nester who's now embraced his role as Abuelo, offering time-tested wisdom while sharing his journey into the Golden Years.

    🎧 Episode Description:

We were told to be quiet—to not talk back, to not question, to not share our feelings. But silence isn’t always golden. In this powerful episode, we talk about the ways silence shaped our family, our emotional world, and our self-worth. From unspoken pain to unexpressed dreams, we explore how breaking the silence—gently, bravely—can be a radical act of healing. This is an episode about learning to use our voice, and giving our children permission to do the same.

    Episode Description:

Boundaries aren’t walls — they’re bridges to healthier relationships. In this raw and reflective episode, we open up about the boundaries we’re learning to set as adults, the ones our parents never had the language or freedom to create, and what it looks like to raise children with both structure and softness. We talk about guilt, culture, parenting, and the tension between honoring family and protecting our peace. Whether you’re a parent, a child, or somewhere in between — this one’s for you.

    Topics to Cover:

    The Boundary Gap

    • How boundaries were seen (or not seen) in our childhood homes
    • The difference between obedience and respect
    • “¿Y qué va a decir la gente?” culture and people-pleasing habits
    • Confusing closeness with no privacy

    Parenting with Boundaries

    • Setting emotional boundaries with kids without pushing them away
    • Teaching kids to say no—and honoring it
    • How boundaries actually build trust, not distance

Boundaries with Parents (Yes, Even as Adults)

    • When guilt shows up, and how we respond to it
    • Real talk: when “honor your parents” becomes emotional self-abandonment

    Generational Healing Through Boundaries

    • The boundaries we’re grateful for now
    • “You taught me to survive—but now I want to thrive.”
    • What does boundary-setting look like when done with love, not resentment?

    Episode Description:

Whether your family was close-knit, distant, complicated, or chaotic—we all come from something. In this episode, we open the mic not just to our family’s truths, but to everyone who’s ever wrestled with identity, generational pain, and what it means to find your voice in a family that didn’t always hear you.

With real stories, vulnerable reflection, and a few listener-submitted truths, we explore what happens when you finally stop pretending and start healing. This is for anyone trying to turn inherited pain into personal power—and maybe even love the people who couldn’t love you perfectly.

      • Why pretending everything’s fine creates emotional distance
      • The pressure to perform roles (the strong one, the good one, the quiet one)
    2. When Family Doesn’t “Get You”
      • Identity clashes: mental health, sexuality, religion, ambition, etc.
      • The loneliness of growing up feeling unseen
    3. Reclaiming Your Voice

      • What healing sounds like (sometimes messy, sometimes silent, sometimes loud)
    4. Love with Boundaries
      • How to stay connected without losing yourself
      • Setting boundaries with compassion, not punishment
    5. What We’re Still Learning
      • Where we (as a family) are still growing
      • How others can start their healing journey—even if the family doesn’t come with them
