  • Bonus: My Farm Focus with Guest The Agritourist Jen Ross
    May 8 2025

It's been a while since I've done a solo episode, and there's a lot to catch up on!

I changed my last name, for one - literally the day I recorded this with Jen.

I've got a weekly newsletter - it's not long, and it's not a sales pitch - literally just keeping in touch. Social media algorithms are wonky, and are not our own, and I would definitely miss people if we lost them! I deleted my Facebook account because I was seeing less of what I wanted it for daily.

I want to buy a farm; I attached a Substack that woke the dream I've had for over 20 years toward the bottom here, but this is something I've wanted to do since I was in my 20s, and now I feel called to reimagine and make it happen. I'm looking for suggestions for funding, since properties are ridiculously expensive now, and looking for people to farm WITH, and for properties to consider - really wanting New England, where I belong...

I brought my friend Jen Ross along with me because she has an excellent podcast called The Agritourist, and I've learned a ton from her and her guests, and have gained so much inspiration - I HIGHLY recommend it (link below for Spotify)! She used to have a farm, and is planning to do so again - she's also a martketig WIZ! She and I have been sort of daydreaming ideas, and things are sort of starting to fall into place, so I thought it was fitting to do this with her.

  • 143: Women's Empowerment from WCorp's Geeta Sidhu-Robb
    Apr 29 2025

I had a whole different idea of where this conversation would go with Geeta Sidhu-Robb, and I am thrilled to have been wrong about that! I was so happily surprised at the direction, talking about taking your power back, and how menopause is a GIFT to women, because for possibly the first time in our lives, we are forced to put our own needs first - and that was definitely not a thought I had about menopause...

Not too long ago Geeta was a newly divorced mom of 3, homeless without a solid plan. Today she is the Founder of WCorp, helping businesses worldwide to certify as supportive to women in many aspects, and has now spoken at the United Nations TWICE and won an award as a thought leader and empowerment coach!

Geeta also hosts a podcast called Activate Yourself, and it's nice to have her voice more available to keep in the empowered frame of mind. I am such a big fan of Geeta now!

I just loved this conversation, and I couldn't wait to share this with you!

  • 142: Holistic Veterinary Care with Dr Marlene Siegel
    Apr 22 2025

After speaking with Dr Marlene Siegel, more than ever, I want to clone her and help every caring pet parent get the best possible health care for their fur and feathered babies. If you're a pet parent like me, you've probably wondered from time to time if you're giving the best care to your pet. Dr Siegel will set things straight, from her 40 years of experience studying and treating different animals, and heartbreaking and heart warming stories. Dr Siegel always knew she would work with animals, but didn't expect what happened when her daughter was young on her horse to change her veterinary practice forever. Her business (she sells food and supplements because it may be hard for some of us depending on where we live) is called EvoLove Adventures, and you can find all her offerings and education on her website below.

Dr Siegel grows her own food forest to offer the healthiest, cleanest, most nutritionally dense foods to her own family - animals included, and explains what she's growing, and why we should be, too. She talks about the chemicals and contaminants in our food and WATER that we take in, and the virtually 100% cancer rates as well as other health issues in pets, and how we can avoid the heartbreak with her 6 Keys to Health and Healing Pets Naturally (free E Book available on the website!) and her Empowered Pet Parents Course.

The message she wants people to take from this: "There is a proven path to healing. The Empowered Pet Parent Course gives you the tools, knowledge, and confidence to take back control of your pet’s health. Address the Root Cause, Not Just Symptoms. Support detoxification. Reduce inflammation. Build resilience."

  • 141 Micro-Homesteading and More with Brittany Hansen
    Apr 15 2025

I loved meeting Brittany Hansen so much; it was such a gift spending time with her because she is a very well-rounded person! Brittany lives in Idaho with her spouse and children on 1/3 acre, and she is homesteading - or as she calls it Micro-homesteading, but it is totally effective! And some cool tips for city folks were shared, because she is using every inch of space, and has created a sharing community where she is, so she can access locally grown or made items, and offer some in return.

We get to learn about raising QUAIL! I've heard of quail here and there, but have I actually seen a quail? Nope. Tasted their eggs? Nope again. Brittany's kids have an allergy to chicken eggs, and learned that quail eggs can be a good option, so she is raising her own quail to feed her family! (Check out my promo posts for this episode, because Brittany shared pictures with me!) I've been told since talking with her that quail might be a way around zoning with chickens, too...

Brittany is immersed in the sustainability world - She is Co-Owner of Viiision, which, my understanding, is like a PR for companies to share their transparency of sustainability progress so that customers will see them to support them (Brittany, please correct me if I'm too far off!).

AND, since we talked, she has started her own podcast, called "Who's Going to Fix This?" Talking about world issues, and who is taking the steps to make change happen. Brilliant! Only a couple of episodes in, and I'm hooked!

Brittany's message she wants you to remember from our conversation: "If we want to change the world we have to lead with that change. If you want more sustainability adopt little changes that interweave that into your life until it becomes a part of you." I feel like if anyone walks the walk, it's Brittany.

  • 140: The True Cost of Fashion with Victoria Scholz
    Apr 8 2025

I love so much that there are people in the fashion world who find fault with it, and have ideas how it could be made better - Victoria Scholz is that person, and her opinions feel so spot on to me - at least, a lot of the things she talks about are things I've noticed and wish someone would fix.

Victoria's brand is called House of Dodos, and she just a couple of weeks ago completed her Masters in Sustainable Fashion. She's learning a lot about the history of fashion, and also finding ways she would change it.

The message she hopes you'll take from this conversation: "Together we can change fashion, through fashion we can change the world."

  • 139: Ms Thrifty Rose's ThriftNics with Alyce Rose
    Apr 1 2025

I briefly met Alyce Rose/AKA Ms Thrifty Rose/AKA Auntie Outside this January at Podfest, and I saw a post of hers where she advertised her 1st Wednesday Thrift Nic, and my podcaster radar alarm sounded - I had to hear more about this thrifting business - and boy did I! Alyce is CONNECTED, and she has an energy that you just want to be around - and she makes things happen!

I just love Alyce's attitude that she doesn't worry about what others think. Her message she wants you to remember her for: "Do YOU your Way."

Alyce shares her journey of creating her businesses, Ms. Thrifty Rose and Auntie Outside, and how they are interconnected. She discusses her approach to live sales, the creation of Thrift Nic events in Jacksonville, FL, and her philosophy on sustainability and confidence.

Alyce also touches on her podcast, Auntie Outside, which addresses important community topics. Throughout the conversation, we emphasize the importance of focusing on oneself, embracing community, and the joy of giving items a second life.

This was a super fun conversation, and it was so great to hear how much thrifting is embraced in the Jacksonville area!
