  • Ep 195 Dan Hughes Unbound Gravel Racing Legend, and now Lifetime Events Photographer
    May 22 2025

Join me as I welcome Dan Hughes, Gravel racing Hall of Famer and the only 4 time winner of the prestigious Unbound Gravel Race, well actually 5 time if you count the time on the tandem! Dan shares his insights on what it takes to tackle some of the toughest ultra events in the world from Unbound to the Trans Iowa. We touch on some of his career highlights, his life growing up in the bike business and ultimate ownership of Sunflower Outdoor and Bike shop, as well as his fitting wedding proposal to his wife Paulina. Getting Dan to share how much of a bad ass he is was pretty tough as Dan is an incredibly humble guy, but a humble guy that is a beast of a competitor and that combination has really served him in his racing career and in his life. Whether you are a seasoned gravel enthusiast or just starting out, Dan's expertise and enthusiasm will leave you inspired to hit the trails and maybe take on a big challenge. With my first Unbound experience coming up next week I thought it would be fitting to have Dan join me and share some of his insights. Dan's racing career is on pause for now as he has a new role as a photographer and content producer for Lifetime events, So he will still be very much involved with Unbound as he captures the race in pictures. Hope you enjoy this one as much as I did.

  • Ep 191 Podcast update and story time
    Apr 3 2025

You may have noticed that I have been flyin solo for these past couple of episodes and there is a good reason for that. My co-host took a job with Trek Bicycle managing a store and the position requires his full attention. Chris is a longtime friend of mine and I really appreciated having him as my co-host, that said I totally understand trying to manage a demanding new position and still keep some balance in your life. Chris and I are still good friends and I'm sure he will have great success running the store. Trek is definitely lucky to have him as well as my previous co-host Dave Dalton. It seems like Trek might have it out for me LOL.. The second half of this short episode is a story of something I would say is pretty crazy that happened to me and I lived to tell about it.. Hope you enjoy and would love to hear any of your experiences? Please feel free to provide feedback anytime we/I do something you like and something you don't like. I appreciate you all for listening and supporting the podcast. Feel free to subscribe if you are so inclined.
