In case you ever wondered, representation matters. When you're used to seeing yourself reflected within the popular content you consume, this is probably not something you think about much. For those of us on the fringes or whom are only most recently starting to be acknowledged across entertainment and institutions, representation is long overdue.

I'm no expert on this topic because my experiences have been so unique. I'm more of the exception than the rule, yet I understand and agree that there are some seriously underserved groups. I want to see more folks who look like me in the content I consume. Leading roles in movies and TV. Leading positions in their careers. We need to see examples of what we can become since we aren't always supported at our homes and in our communities.
