Be aware, this is a trip through a seriously disturbed mind. The Darkness isn’t like some of the tougher BDSM romances. This book has brutal violence. Imagine the most brutal things that one person can do to another and you’ll probably be pretty close. There is also scenes with child abuse; both physical and sexual. Both the Hero and Heroine suffer from their own personal demons. They do help each other, a bit, but this is not a HEA story. As a matter of fact, this is a trilogy, so part one and two are both ended with cliffhangers.

These characters’ aren’t looking for redemption and they live strictly by an, “eye for an eye” lifestyle; with no regrets. Before listening to this trilogy, be aware that this level of violence is constant, throughout the series.

The book is well written and is likely a pretty accurate representation of the lives of a 1% biker club that doesn’t even attempt to follow the law.

I read Trigger and loved it. Listening to it I felt a whole new connection to the book and all it has to offer. I shared in the darkness that J.L Drake portrays, laughed along with the characters, and loved every minute of Trigger and Tess.

I was intrigued by the synopsis & reviews I had read. I decided to buy even though it was a little out of my comfort zone.

The first in a trilogy and it did not disappoint. JL Drake must have dug deep to write this intensely distinctive character such as Trigger. And the narrators Connor Goff & Lacie Glennox are extremely gifted to make those words come to life chapter after chapter.

I had to listen to this book in pieces. When it got too intense for me I went to listen to something along the lines of rainbows & Sunshine. However, I was deeply invested in Triggers story so I had to finish it and buy the next book.

If you have an aversion to violence then perhaps you should skip. If your up for a walk on the extremely wild side then click buy it now.

I sure hope there's a HEA at the end of book 3.

This is my third time listening to this series. I absolutely love the narration of both! I can’t say enough about how well this is written and read. So many times you get a book and they don’t put enough development into the characters. This has everything! I wish she would do more on this MC!

GREAT BOOK. TRIGGER WAS A MEAN OLE BIKER JUST LIKE WHAT YOU FIGGURED A BIKER TO BE LIKE. TESSA KIND OF BROUGHT HIM OUT OF HIS EVIL ADDITUDE AND HE FELL IN LOVE WITH HER SOMETHING HE DIDN'T BELIEVE HE WAS CAPABLE OF DOING. TESSA MOVED IN WITH THE DEVIL'S REACH BIKER'S CLUB TO GET AWAY FROM HER EX-BOYFIEND WHO APPARENTLY MESSED HER UP WHILE SHE WAS WITH HIM. CONNIE GOFF AND LADE GLENNOX DID AN EXCELLANT JOB NARRATING THIS STORY. THE STORY ITSELF WAS REALLY GOOD BUT IT IS A THREE PART SERIES AND THE WAY THE FIRST BOOK ENDED LEFT YOU HANGING SO I'M WAITING TO HEAR WHAT'S ALL GOING TO HAPPEN IN BOOK 2.

Great Story and luv the characters and the narrators in this... but I don’t see the next book in audiobook... please please tell me it will be! With the same narrators please, J.L. Drake I’m checking out more of your books!

Cliff Hanger alert! The story is good and slightly dark buy it kept me going to the very end and I was happy to see the next was already available. I look forward to the continuation of the main characters story!

Her voice for the main female is great
All other voices are the worst I’ve EVER heard.
It’s so over the top and just plain ridiculous!!
My jaw actually dropped a few times bc of the ridiculousness.

Now for the actual story:
I’m glad I didn’t give up
It’s worth dealing with lacies voices!

I wanted to try out a different genre and I saw this book recommended on one of my groups. Luckily it was audible escape so I figured I would give it a try. I have been stuck in reverse harem fantasy books for a couple months and started getting bored.... but I enjoy multiple male characters for the female to interact and banter with and a strong female character..
dang... that is exactly what I got in this book, but with so much more intensity. I was totally captivated by the story. I mean.... a book about a biker dang who sells drugs, and actively murders other gang members... I had no idea what I was in for.

My only complaint is that the female narrator can not pull of a sexy male voice for anything. Luckily triggers chapters were from a male narrator and he was hot and sexy, but her imitation is quite bad.

On to the next book to see what happens next!
