As the Second World War turned in favor of the Allies, Germany became a sinking ship.
Nazi rats started to plan ways to escape inevitable revenge at the hands of the victorious forces and partisans. Looted wealth was hidden around the world to finance personal lifestyles and to fund future plans to restore the Nazis to power.
The ultimate evil man of the centure fakes his suicide, escapes from his bunker and settles in southern Argentina, physically altered, where he produces an heir to carry on his plans for a new Fourth Reich.
This son succeeds him and uses his father’s accumulated wealth to develop a bioweapon that can be hidden before an attack on the general population. The weapon causes severe neurological symptoms, resulting in populations of zombie like creatures.
Standing in the way of this is a team of CDC-trained USDA veterinarians, French investigators from the prestigious Pasteur Institute, and a young Lakota Sioux Indian from Fort Peck Montana. These friends were "commissioned" by the young man’s late Shaman great-grandfather to find satanic "destroyers" of life.
Now they are on a course to find the man who has developed a hidden plague that threatens the very existence of the civilized world.
Can they stop The Trojan Plague?

Initially, this apocalyptic, action packed, medical thriller seemed to holds such promise: a rabies like virus was to be released amongst the U.S animal .population, terrifying enough in itself, but the evil ingenious mind behind the plan did not stop there: a two stage vaccination offered protection from the awful and fatal contracted illness but, in reality, the second really offered further affliction. The head of the pharmaceutical company making these faux answers to the malaise he himself had ordered, intended to bring about world domination for the pure Aryan race. Well, he was the son of another who'd tried to achieve the same by means of a World War.
Soon, another plan was underway, and the intrepid team again bumbles into action to save the world. With bad dialogue and very little character development, they do have a secret weapon: they are the Chosen of the Crearor, selected and protected to defend the world against the Destroyer, with a bit of supernatural help along the way. By this point, I was having misgivings about the book, which in turn, led to my clock watching. A good editor to clear up minor mistakes, pump up the characters and cut the read time in half to a mere right something hours would do wonders for this book.
Narration by Dennis Baxter is mostly good, read with gentle emotion, the timbre of his voice pleasant to hear. He reads with clarity and with good modulation, and has a remarkable knack of giving individually distinctive voice to Each of the book's protagonists, make and female. Not so good, however, is his French character accent, nor the French phrases scattered through through the text. His was a difficult task and, overall, he did well, breathing some life into the characters.
I was fortunate in being freely gifted with a complimentary copy of The Trojan Plague, at my request, by the rights holder via Audiobook Boom. My thanks for that. I was unaware until after reading this book that it is part of a series, and not the first, but it holds well as a stand alone. I did enjoy much of the story and the scary concepts of how the virus was distributed, but the heavy handed her of supernatural elements and turning this from a visceral and realistic thriller into a Good versus Evil confrontation I personally found unwelcome and unnecessary, especially in a book over 16 hours in length. I would have preferred stronger personal character developments.

The narrator of this scientific thriller was Dennis J. Baxter. Unfortunately, this narrator’s performance did not add anything to the story. His pacing throughout the book was off. Instead of a flowing river, this narration is a trip down some white water rapids.
Editing, quality, and production were on par with most books I have listened to. It was clear, with no issue with sound or quality.
