The year is 1979. For ten-year-old Troy Fischer, eagerly awaiting the thrills of Halloween, autumn is his favorite time of year. This spooky season looks to be the best one yet - he has caught the eye of the new girl at school, and the haunted attraction he built in his garage, called Scream in the Dark, is guaranteed to have all of his classmates talking.

But something is happening to the children of Garrett Grove. A mysterious outbreak threatens the community, leaving a handful of doctors and the town’s sheriff desperate to find the source of the contagion before it is too late.

Oh man, what a cliffhanger! I am looking forward to seeing how everything plays out and who else is added to the brood!

When a mysterious outbreak threatens the quaint town of Garret Grove, doctors and police are stunned and completely unaware that an ancient and mysterious entity has awoken and is adding to its collective. Can it be stopped before it's too late?

I found this book to be highly engaging, and I am enthusiastic about reading the second book in the series. The suspenseful storyline maintained my interest, causing me to stay up late reading in an effort to solve the mystery. The conclusion was effectively designed, leaving me eager to continue reading the series.

A bit predictable and had a cliffhanger at the end. Overall though it does an excellent job at setting the scene and providing a slow burn creepiness. loved the interesting cast of characters too.

This story has a lot of potential and will be appealing to many readers. I've become used to a certain level of writing that I did not find in Ojanox I: Scream in the Dark. I doubt I will continue the series.

The Ojanox by Daemon Manx is available on Audible. I read it before it came out as an ARC that got in an indie box. I love the rest of the books. I decided to listen to it since I discovered that the whole series is on Audible. The narration by JP Adam's is well done and it was great to hear all of my beloved characters' voices aloud.

Most of this book could have been edited out. The back story of the characters added nothing to the book. Very little about the Ojanox. Last hour of the book was interesting. I’m passing on this series. Narrator was good.
