Acerca de esta escucha
Shay was still angry but shrugged nonchalantly as if to say, it's not that big of a deal.
"So, what am I wrong about?"
"You're not going to want to hear this, but I have to tell you anyway." Liam paused before finishing. "You might be working hard, but you're not doing it for the company."
"What the hell does that mean?" Shay wanted to know. Knowing that his adversary might punch him for what he was about to say, Liam responded. "You're doing it for yourself."
New York Times best-selling author Patrick Lencioni has written a dozen books that focus on how leaders can build teams and lead organizations. In The Motive, he shifts his attention toward helping them understand the importance of why they're leading in the first place.
In what may be his edgiest pause-resister to date, Lencioni thrusts his listeners into a day-long conversation between rival CEOs. Shay Davis is the CEO of Golden Gate Alarm, who, after just a year in his role, is beginning to worry about his job and is desperate to figure out how to turn things around. With nowhere else to turn, Shay receives some hard-to-swallow advice from the most unlikely and unwanted source - Liam Alcott, CEO of a more successful security company and his most hated opponent.
Lencioni uses unexpected plot twists and crisp dialogue to take us on a journey that culminates in a resolution that is as unexpected as it is enlightening. As he does in his other books, he then provides a straightforward summary of the lessons from the fable, combining a clear explanation of his theory with practical advice to help executives examine their true motivation for leading. In addition to provoking listeners to honestly assess themselves, Lencioni presents action steps for changing their approach in five key areas. In doing so, he helps leaders avoid the pitfalls that stifle their organizations and even hurt the people they are meant to serve.

Amazon is the fastest company ever to reach $100 billion in sales, and they didn’t reach that landmark by staying in their comfort zone. Risk-taking is the key that unlocked the door to growth at Amazon, but those risks were (and are) intentional, calculated, and strategic. Thomas Edison believed: “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” Like Edison, Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos has also linked experimentation and failure with growth and success.

Millions of workers, even those who have carefully chosen careers based on true passions and interests, dread going to work, suffering each day as they trudge to jobs that make them cynical, weary, and frustrated. It is a simple fact of business life that any job, from investment banker to dishwasher, can become miserable.

It’s no secret that the right type of webinar can easily double or triple your business profits. In fact, many companies today would be bankrupt if it wasn’t for having a single, solid webinar. A strong webinar allows you to get more new customers into your business—and allows you to serve and make more profit from your existing customers and clients. Most of your so-called competitors don’t use webinars. Or, if they do, they use them poorly. A powerful webinar in an industry where none exists can catapult your company immediately to the top of that market. Jason Fladlien has helped...

Food For Thought
This was not what I thought this audiobook would be like . I was greatly surprised. Don’t let the 2 hour plus play time of this book discourage you from listening. It is well worth 1 credit! A very valuable audiobook. A life changer! A must read/listen for any manager or person in management. Or anyone. Also enjoyed narration done by one of my very favorite narrators, JF.

Motive for being a manager & why it is important
A refreshing book that does an excellent job at identifying and defining the motives for leadership. Simply put, one is focused on self and the other focused on others. This book will help some one aspiring to leadership within a company to better understand if it is something they truly want to do and it will also help people who are in leadership to become better or possibly in some cases, as it did for Shey in the book, help them understand they may not really want to be in a leadership position. Enjoy!
