Set in 1949 Paris, Slim Moran runs the Pitchipoi Agency with her Nazi Hunter boyfriend, Daniel. Their specialty: to find those lost in the last war.

After a couple of easy cases, business has ground to halt, and Daniel has just gone on another manhunt this time to find the Nazi Butcher of Lyon, Klaus Barbie. Slim is bored until a British spymistress asks her to find a missing woman spy long presumed dead.

Set against the ruins of post-war Germany and France, Slim quickly learns that the scores from the last war have not been settled and she must find this spy soon before they both wind up dead.

I listened to this book in one day! It was that good! The narrator was amazing. She did the accents and voices beautifully. There are also several stories that are woven together so well. I loved it!

Enjoyed listening to this story. Certainly not the best. Not sure if it wanted to be a crime book or historical fiction

Well developed and written. Interesting story line but not enough for me to continue with numerous sequels.

The complexities of people’s lives within the war . It is not just about a spy it’s about how people live, they love , finding bits of happy moments a mist the horrors and atrocities committed .
What they did to survive and making hard decisions. We see everything through Slims eyes as we take the journey with her. And meet all these different people.
If you like period drama and spy drillers this is a great story and I did enjoy how it was narrated

The little bit of truth within the fiction

This was a good book that kept my attention (which is hard to do) Great plot! For those who say it wasn’t historically accurate, I’m not sure detailed historical facts and reflections on them were the authors focus. This is a fiction story that has general historical facts. It’s not meant to dive deep into Holocaust details, but rather provide some history while weaving a fiction spy story.

I enjoyed this story. I listened to it in a day, but I found the ending abrupt and highly dissatisfying, especially given that there doesn’t seem to be a sequel to follow-up and find out what happened to one of the major characters. Had I known, I probably wouldn’t have read this first book.

I certainly hope the author is working on a sequel. I hate being left hanging.😡

Initially, I thought the narrator’s accent was HORRIBLE. I am happy to say it got a little better as the book progressed, but I have read other books in which the narrator sounded much more natural with accents (Siobhan Waring, Saskia Maareveld).

Overall, I would recommend this book. It kept me entertained on a dreary, rainy day.
