overall, the story and the characters were enough to keep my interest through most of the story although there were a few plot points that were odd, like the fact that she was raised in wealthy surroundings but never traveled. The female protagonist was also extremely wise for her age.

The narrator was pretty good doing the female voice; however the narration really lacked in not having a male narrator. Also, If I hear one more person pronounce the word ogle as oggle I'm going to start wondering who decided to rewrite the dictionary.

If I went over some of the reviews I wouldn’t have listened. Yeah there were parts that were a bit annoying but it is a story of two people dealing with two different things in their lives. It was a good listen just a bit long.

I loved it! Great story! But being from Jersey City I can tell the author isn't when she called the train from there to NYC the subway. someone from there would call it the Path train.

This was most definitely an interesting story. There are many PA/boss romances, but most of them involve someone down on their luck where the boss makes them an offer to bail them out and usually includes sexual favors. This did not have that. Sure, it had a very rich boss who offers a job but there were no favors to be had. Although the boss had a bad experience, it wasn't from his childhood. And the assistant was taking care of herself quite nicely on her own, mostly by her own merit where it counted. It was an enjoyable read for certain.

And I was also lucky enough to listen to the audio along with it. The narrator was a little stiff at times, but told the story how it was written. I would have liked to hear more warmth and inflection between some of the interactions, but overall I did enjoy the listen.

While the author shows talent, the plot was old, tired, and incredibly insulting to intelligent women. When a rich older man (Josh) lured young college graduate (Kaylee, an extremely immature 22 year old) across the country to work for him, promising to help her get into law school, nothing good could happen.

Josh became obsessed and overbearing with Kaylee, trying to control every aspect of her new life. Rather than assertive and self-confident, Kaylee crumbled into a week, pathetic and needy child who obeyed Josh's every command like a well-trained dog, never believing she deserved respect and affection.

I am not sure who was more annoying, Kaylee for being such a doormat or Josh for being a selfish asshole. I quit about half way through this book, so I don't know if Josh ever became physically violent with Kaylee but I wouldn't be surprised.

Not sure why women authors continue to portray female characters as brainless twits, rather than intelligent and strong.
