I initially started listening to the book just to meet the listening requirements, but then I found myself focusing on the important sections of each chapter. Life is not picture perfect like the media shows us, and that’s something we need to understand. These unrealistic images can trick our brains into thinking we’re not enough, not even worthy of being called a perfect human being. I never knew about the concept of the shadow self or how it can trigger us. This book gave me knowledge about it. The idea of the shadow brings self-awareness and helps unlock creativity in building both our personality and our relationships. Talking to the younger version of yourself is also a form of shadow work, which I found very meaningful. This book offers real guidance on how to move beyond. But to grow, we first need to accept ourselves so we can truly transform. Shadow work brings challenges. It feels uncomfortable at first, but with time, it heals. To explore your shadow self, acceptance is key. A person has to be truly ready for it.
