Acerca de esta escucha

On a rainy June morning, tens of thousands of people crowd into Duluth for the city's biggest annual event: the Duluth Marathon. Exhausted runners push to reach the finish line and spectators line the streets to cheer them on. Then, in a terrifying echo of the Boston bombing, there is an explosion along the race course, leaving many people dead and injured.

Within minutes, Jonathan Stride, Serena Dial, and Maggie Bei are at work with the FBI to find the terrorists behind the tragedy. As social media feeds a flood of rumors and misinformation, one spectator remembers being jostled by a young man with a backpack not far from the bomb site. He spots a Muslim man in a tourist's photo of the event and is convinced that this was the man who bumped into him in the crowd - but now the man's backpack is missing.

When he tweets the photo to the public, the young man, Khan Rashid, becomes the most wanted man in the city. And the manhunt is on.

But are the answers behind the Duluth bombing more complex than anyone realizes? And can Stride, Serena, and Maggie find the truth before more innocent people are killed?

Great book! Brings the real world and unreal true of hate. Highly recommend. Makes you think about what is going on.

Brian I just want to say that you brought forth one of the biggest flaws in human nature in your story here. I have to admit that I did have to go back and restart the book thinking I had missed something along the way. Not your usual story line but one that holds a lot of truth not only in today’s world but throughout our history. Racism, bullying or just plain ugliness in words that we can spew into the ears of other people. This was a good example of how words can have a domino effect and ruin so many lives. I could go on and on but the heart of the matter is you nailed it good in this novel and I hope your readers come away with a different perspective when it comes to other people. Not everyone is alike. Be kind in your words and encouraging and see what effect that has on the people around you. It isn’t hard.

So many twists and turns, so many secret, so many with so much to lose. Come take a wild ride where nothing is as it seems, with sick, bad people who have so much to hid to keep their secrets hidden. So many useless deaths, so much sadness, so much evil, it will break your heart. This was a wild ride that holds your attention, I don't know about you but I didn't get it worked out until the end, when you have all the answers hold on to your seat because the author has one more mind blowing secret to tell you.

The narrator give you true emotions, you have no doubt what the characters are feeling, he really brings the excitement to life. He character voices are close together, you can work out who is talking, I didn't care much for his women voices. There are no volume changes, no repeating of words, no background noise. It really was a good listen.

I loved this so much that I bought the authors other audios. It really blow my mind and was a delightful listen. The author knows how to hold your attention, giving you and audio you can't put down. I listened on my way to work, home, at work and even at home. I really didn't want this story to end. I truly loved the ending, it was so nice to see some good come out of all the bad. A highly entertaining read, I look forward to listening to more of this authors work.

Every single book in this series is really good, but this one was one of my favorites. There isn’t a better series out there in my opinion.

One of the best

I read a couple reviews saying that this was a predictable story. It had me questioning a little bit because I love the Jonathan stride books. Yes there are things that are predictable but that doesn't distract or detract iat all from the point of the story. It is well worth reading and it has a wonderful theme to it that is well told.

Go Past The Concept of Predictability

A very meaningful And timely book. I not only enjoyed the story and all the characters but found myself emotionally and intellectually involved with both sorrow and joy and prayers to be a better person. Mr. Freeman you have managed to put into words the fact that we are all alike in the beginning and in our hearts. Hopefully we can learn to keep that thought in our hearts and minds as we go through our lives. Thank You

the best ever

To me good fiction is immune from the day to day goings on of our world. Fiction is supposed to be an escape, but in todays over politicized world, politics seems to invade every corner of our lives which is sad. The only ones that win are the politicians acting as toll takers as societal opinions cross cross the highways of thought. I was sad when this story began because I knew from the very beginning that it wasn’t terrorism, I wasn’t sure who the mastermind was initially but figured it out way quicker than I had on any previous stride novel. After all there are really very few suspects because the point of this story was to lambast and humiliate the conservative twitterverse.

Stride is clearly the ecumenical hero, looking for fact in a world of propaganda. It’s a shame the author had to lend him to the world of propaganda. Hopefully, the next one will get back in stride with the authors previous efforts.

Brian Freeman as always, draws you in and before you know it, the characters are your friends and the story pulls you along for a glorious ride. AND Joe Barret could read the Yellow Pages and I'd buy it! He makes you believe every word.

A winning combo of author & narrator
