This book has become a treasure for me at this stage of my life. I strongly suggest this book to anyone searching for ways to live your life in times of sickness personally or searching for ways to share with others. I used the techniques suggested by Dr. Siegel as I recently searched for a surgeon. I felt empowered and very much in control of my own medical process because of what I had learned!

I've been a fan of Bernie Siegel since he wrote "Love, Medicine & Miracles" back in 1986. I had always felt that our bodies and minds had more to do with healing than prescription drugs, surgery and so on, but felt very alone in my believes (no internet back then). His book let me know I was not alone in my feelings.. This book, "Life, Hope and Healing" is along the same lines. It's a story of cancer patients and how the way they felt about it, looked at it and treated it made all the differrence in their recovery. Dr. Bernie gave them permission to feel what they felt, say what they needed to say, ask the questions they needed answered.. He has a very different way of treating patients.. He doens't treat them as if he's the professional and they just need to trust what he tells them, but rather, he listens to them, and feels he is learning from them...

He tells stories of people who are very ill and through discussing how they are feeling about their lives, things that have been eating away at them for years, come to understand that their illness is a direct response to all that, and how many, many, many people, once they figure out what is eating away at them, are able to reach healing....

If you could sum up Life, Hope and Healing in three words, what would they be?

Exactly that ... Life, Hope and Healing. Bernie Siegel gives peace and hope to someone who is dealing with or dealt with a serious illness. He is so calming and genuine. Truly gifted. Listening to this book and other Bernie Siegel books has gotten me through many a sleepless night. You know the kind of nights that treatment keeps you up ? Or worry ? The fact that Bernie is a physician and has seen patients while in practice gives him a unique and special credibility. Bernie has been an Angel for me. Literally.

I love this and my only complaint is at the end of the meditation, when you're all nice and relaxed, a random narrator comes on and says, "audible hopes you enjoyed this audiobook." The person who says this startles you. The volume of this final statement is pretty loud and abrupt. This happens on some of dr. Siegel's other meditations as well. I wish audible would fix this...
