Acerca de esta escucha

Tim Donovan is a Catholic priest with a guilty conscience - though not in the way you’d guess. And Katherine Donne is a Parisian socialite who long ago kicked her self-respect to the curb - for good and for ill. And much closer, we have a group of men whose fortunes, graying temples, and positions in life are distinguished and enviable. But their morals? Anything but. And that’s where Evan Reed comes in. Evan (short for Evangeline) is a highly principled political operative with an imperfect past, tasked with uncovering compromising material on a rotten judge up for nomination to the US Supreme Court before he can be rushed through confirmation.

Evan knows it won't be simple to find damaging information against the judge because he's been vetted many times before. When Evan pulls the string after an interview with a cryptic madman, she finds herself struggling to solve a puzzle that gets more complex by the hour. And where crime, money, conscience, and greed come together, danger is sure to lurk. In this sequel to Dust, Ann McMan takes the listener on an intense journey into a world that lies just beneath the thin veneer of civilization - a world teeming with power struggles and warped desires, and a subculture of promises made, kept, and broken.

As Evan pushes further into peril, her personal life sparks into flame with the increasing presence of the ravishing Julia Donne, a book publisher with a progressive bent and troubling questions about her late father. McMan’s specialty of intertwining a hot romance into heart-pounding suspense just keeps getting better and better.

This author narrator tell a really good story. As a rural Appalachian person, her stories feel familiar. There is plenty of action but kindness is always a theme.
I listen to each book more than once over the years.

I have enjoyed all of her books

Dust is my favorite Ann McMan book and I’ve been eagerly awaiting the sequel. It did not disappoint! Great story, with great characters, and the narrator is perfect. I highly recommend it! Now I’m waiting for Maya’s story.

I love everything about this story! Both of the Evan and Julia’s stories. I love the mystery I love how they talk to each other! It reminds me of how my wife and I talk to and tease each other. And Christine Williams does an amazing job of bringing everyone to life! I think we need more Evan and Julia!

I love this book!

Ann McMan paints vivid pictures with her words and her characters are intriguing, their dialog memorable and often witty. Galileo may be her finest novel to date. It wraps a tender, mature love story around the exposure of a hideous scandal of child sexual abuse hidden by the Catholic Church for decades. Some of the details are extremely painful to read, but none gratuitous. The clever plot turns, strong supporting characters, and ultimately justice for many villains keep the reader riveted. A great novel artfully narrated. Worth ten stars.

Exquisitely crafted, complex story of love triumphing over pain

I loved Galileo. So nice to spend time with Evan and Julia in Chadds Ford, PA. and everywhere else their adventures take them. The topics covered in the book and uncovered by Evan are so relevant. Loved the suspense and the romance. I'm ready for book three. Christine Williams does an excellent job with the narration.

Every time I read (or listen to) a book by Ann McMan I finish thinking that it is one of my favorites. Loved this well written/narrated crime story. Glad to have it in my library so I can enjoy it again.

Superb narration of another great Ann McMan book.

I’ve read a lot of McMan and I love the Jericho characters snd the banter back and forth between the characters. This story was a bit long in the development of the crimes and not as uplifting in mood as her other stories. I still am fine with the credit used but probably not one I will ever listen to a second time.

Not her best
