What would you do if you were in love with a wonderful husband then reconnected with your first love who also took your virginity?
I definitely struggled with some of the decisions two of the characters made in the course of the book.
Loving someone should mean you want them to be their best self. Not pushing them to live a life lacking in morality or integrity.
The author wants you to love Oliver Chloe and lance. They’re all nice people. Well it appears they actually aren’t. Oliver and Chloe ended up being huge and selfish disappointments.

This book was really well written and I do believe some people can be in love with two people at the same time! As hard as that must be, I believe Marni did a superb job making you love all three equally. I am so glad that Lance didn’t have to get his heart broken and that Oliver was understanding and gracious enough to let Chloe go back to her husband to have a family. That is true love!
My hope is that in their next life Chloe and Lance will get their chance for a happily ever after.

My only complaint would be that we didn’t get to hear from Shane East until the very end, but still loved Ava Erickson’s narrating.

This book made me so mad at the characters. I couldn't stop listening though. I'm still a little mad, but also heartbroken .

The way the author wrote the main character. You didn’t “disljke” her as much as you think you would?

Even If It Hurts is a story about relationships and how there can be more than one love. It's written and powered by emotions, some of which are so profound and deeply rooted that they take over logic. There is cheating.

Nope, I'm not here to judge. It's a central part of the story, making the characters flawed but so, so real. Does that mean love is painful and difficult? No, not necessarily. But it can happen.

Chloe, Lance, and Oliver's journey hurts. It makes you wonder about what was, what is, what could have been, and what will be. The what-ifs turned into actions, and the weight of the consequences pressed into life.

Marni Mann's writing is powerful and emotional. Delivered with intensity by the masterful narrations of Ava Erickson and Shane East.

When it feels real

She was more concerned that her best friend would find out about her affair than she was about her husband finding out about it. That’s f’d up. The husband is the only victim. He’s the only one who had no clue. How can anyone sympathize with he? It was an entertaining story but she doesn’t deserve any sympathy.

Chloe’s shallowness

This book doesn’t take enough time to make you like the main character before she starts cheating on her husband. They didn’t bother with character development. Just a lot of graphic sex scenes. Voice actors are great, as always. Just the actual content that didn’t work for me.
