Another thing that bothers me, because it becomes a discrepancy in the story, is that as they're trying to figure out what reason someone would have to kill her father, these "detectives" somehow completely forgot about a key part of an earlier conversation with a neighbor who told them she overheard the bad guys saying, "Where is she? We will find her with or without you." Obviously that right there tells us why the father was murdered, but then they waste time looking into his finances to see if it had something to do with that. And these are supposed to be our heroic detectives? Please.
Furthermore, there is more chemistry between the wife and the brother-in-law than there is with the wife and her husband. We get more scenes with the brother than we do with the husband, so much so that I found myself wishing they would get together instead. And when we do hear interactions between husband and wife, there are no tender moments and nothing to build a believable foundation to their love or relationship. He is always annoyed with his brother, which gets very old and boring after the first 100 times, and all he ever wants to do is give his wife a drink and put her to bed to rest. I can't even begin to express how frustrating it is.
They also changed the narrator for this book for some reason, so everyone's voices were different from what we grew used to during the first three books. Not detrimental to the story, but a bit distracting.
Finally, we still have the unresolved issue of the baby girl and the dead friend. The book ends with "to be continued," but at this point, I've lost interest.
Couldn't Wait for it to be OVER!
