Acerca de esta escucha

Aristotle wrote on everything from the shape of seashells to sterility, from speculations on the nature of the soul to meteorology, poetry, art, and even the interpretation of dreams. Apart from mathematics, he transformed every field of knowledge that he touched. Above all, Aristotle is credited with the founding of logic. When he first divided human knowledge into separate categories, he enabled our understanding of the world to develop in a systematic fashion.

In Aristotle in 90 Minutes, Paul Strathern offers a concise, expert account of Aristotle's life and ideas and explains their influence on man's struggle to understand his existence in the world.

If you could sum up Aristotle in 90 Minutes in three words, what would they be?
aka Cliff Notes

Would you recommend Aristotle in 90 Minutes to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes - I've listened to each book in the series about a major philosopher that is available on Audible. Strathern's books don't have the analytical depth found in Will Durant's "The Story of Philosophy" books, but he does a good job summarizing each philosopher's biography, major philosophical points, and criticisms. Additionally, Strathern's breadth is broader than Durant's in that he covers a greater number of philosophers. I believe that the time spent listening to these books has been well-spent.

My reviews for each book in the series about a philosopher are identical.

What about Robert Whitfield’s performance did you like?
Voice is clear, well-modulated, and easily understood, even at 1 1/2 speed.

In 90 Minutes Series overview

Aristotle was inspiring and brilliant, those who tried to change his stuff were idiots.
Saying a unicorn is a horse is niave, in reality it is a one horn rhinoceros.

Stupid people have been around forever

HEADER SAYS IT ALL. Add the series if you aren't too familiar with who these people were and want to learn a little.

QUICK AND EASY

Aristotle and the men he conversed with throughout his life, have left heavy foot prints on the modern philosophical view of the world. This is a great run through on who Aristotle was amongst those men.

Great synopsis of Aristotle

Little dull. Not what I was expecting. Hard to explain. Sorta attempt to comically portray his life felt odd. It was not what I was expecting. Learned a little bit, only little. Final word: it felt odd. Sorry!

Cold

everything you need to know in one book about the man that used to take 9 college courses . love it

like an entire undergrad degree in one

I like short informative books to tell me just the facts, which this book accomplishes. It is interesting how the Christian faith went from a Spiritual view to a philosophical view so early.

Informative

Hard to get all in on the subject in short time. But it’s free so worth a listen.

Quick read ok not great

Starts out with a useless story about the author and Aristotle's statue. The rest of the book drones on and on and on ... about a litany of facts. Ugh.

A dry reading of too many facts

Was hoping it would focus just a bit more on his Philosophy, but it's pretty good over all.

Not bad
