Charles Osgood
From FDR to Harry Truman to JFK to George W. Bush, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the White House captures the wit and humor of the campaign trail - a place where levity is always welcome. Osgood includes fragments of speeches, interviews, and press conferences, as well as articles written by and about the candidates - no source is left untapped.
Arriving exactly when America most needs a good laugh, this book promises to make the seemingly endless race to the presidency a little more bearable, if not downright enjoyable.

Reseñas de la Crítica
"Anyone remotely interested in U.S. history or politics will find this an enjoyable tour." (Publishers Weekly)
"If you are one of that benighted handful of people who isn't wise to Charles Osgood's incisive and humorous look at the foibles of your fellow men, here is your chance to catch up. Try not to foul up again!" (Walter Cronkite)

I have already listened to it several times, and will listen several more times. I use these book to give my brain something happy or funny to think about as I go to sleep. I use soft earphones, and it doesn't disturb husband. This one works fine.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the White House?
Who ever thought Gerald Ford could be so funny?
Which scene was your favorite?
Ronald Reagan's quick retorts. I didn't vote for him, and didn't like a lot of his policies, but he was quick to polk fun at an opponent--or himself: not in the angry hateful way of too many current politicians.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I play all the books from Audible all night long. Eventually, I manage to hear them all awake.
Any additional comments?
I'm looking for happy, funny books. This is certainly one.
Great book for an election year
