Historia
M.J. Rose and Fiona Davis' Stories from Suffragette City is a collection of short stories from a chorus of best-selling writers all set on the same day, October 23, 1915, in which over a million women marched for the right to vote in New York City - featuring an introduction by Kristin Hannah....

A nice look into women's suffrage
Revisado: 11-24-24
This historical fiction book is a collection of short stories about women from the suffragette march in New York City in 1912. I enjoyed learning about this pivotal day in women's rights through the eyes of various women, fictional and not. Some of the stories were tied together but a common character. I liked the concept of this and with some additional effort all of the stories could have been meaningfully linked. As it was it felt a little disjointed. Overall a nice read!

Historia
Arthur Parnassus lives a good life built on the ashes of a bad one. He’s the headmaster of a strange orphanage on a distant and peculiar island, and he hopes to soon be the adoptive father to the six dangerous and magical children who live there. Arthur works hard and loves with his whole heart so none of the children ever feel the neglect and pain that he once felt as an orphan on that very same island so long ago. He is not alone: joining him is the love of his life, Linus Baker, a former caseworker in the Department in Charge of Magical Youth.

Revisado: 09-29-24
This book is balm for the tired soul, for anyone who has been othered, forgotten, told they are not enough, told they are too much, and anyone who wants to learn how to be a good human. An absolute beautiful sequel to the House on the Cerulean Sea. Beautifully written and narrated. your favorite characters are back with the addition of a new friend to cherish. Thank you, TJ Klune, for this masterpiece.

Historia
Extensively researched and told through alternating fiction and nonfiction chapters, this book illuminates a shocking truth: contrary to popular opinion, the witch hunts never ended. Alice shares research that suggests tens of thousands of witch hunt-related deaths have happened all over the world in the last thirty years. The Once & Future Witch Hunt also features tantalizing glimpses into Alice's ancestors' lives and reimagines the trials through fact-based fiction.

A comprehensive look at the Salem Witch Trials
Revisado: 09-13-24
coming into this book I didn't have a lot of knowledge about the Salem Witch Trials. I wanted to read something that would give me a good deep look into it and this book was perfect for that! The book is written in a unique format. One chapter is a historical fiction look at Martha Carrier's life (she is the however many great grandmother of the author who was killed in the trials). The next chapter is the author's unpacking of the previous chapter and insight into her research process. I was completely blown away and bewildered by how these witch trials came to be, the history of witch trials throughout the world and the fact that these are still going on today. The author needs to be credited for the amount of research she did, her heart and passion for the subject, and how she brought it all together in a beautiful story and a comprehensive analysis. I hope we can all learn from these trials how to be better humans. The world needs it.

A naturalist who spent months at a time living on her own among wild creatures in remote jungles, Sy Montgomery had always felt more comfortable with animals than with people. So she gladly opened her heart to a sick piglet who had been crowded away from nourishing meals by his stronger siblings. Yet Sy had no inkling that this piglet, later named Christopher Hogwood, would not only survive but flourish.

The Real Anthony Fauci details how Fauci, Gates, and their cohorts use their control of media outlets, scientific journals, key government and quasi-governmental agencies, global intelligence agencies, and influential scientists and physicians to flood the public with fearful propaganda about COVID-19 virulence and pathogenesis, and to muzzle debate and ruthlessly censor dissent.

Required reading!
Revisado: 05-15-24
This was a big heavy read but I am really glad I took the time to get through it and process it. A lot of what is shared in this book affirmed some of my suspicions about the parties mentioned, but it is still, nonetheless, quite shocking. The world feels like a giant web of disaster, but I am going to continue doing my best to make it a better place!
One thing I appreciate about this book is that it is backed by a whole ton of research and documentation. This also made the book somewhat dry but I can understand why it was necessary to drive the points home. I definitely recommend this book and recommend you pick up a hard copy because I wouldn't be surprised if this is censored at some point.
Excellent narration.

Beautifully written!
Revisado: 05-11-24
This book has made a lasting impact on my soul. I didn't know much about the Vietnam war prior to listening to this and I'm honestly broken over the things I learned. Hannah had a true gift of storytelling. Frankie became a fast friend - she was just enough the girl next door and just enough independent tenacity. Her character was believable, likeable, and we'll developed. It felt like I was walking with her through each hard thing she went through - I wanted to hold her close and tell her it was going to be okay. My favorite thing about this book is that Frankie found her way through her trials her way, with the support of her friends and healed relationship with her parents. No man saved her. She saved herself.

Plot Twists Abound
Revisado: 03-01-24
The weaving of stories in the books leading up to this one in the series all start to come together. We learn more about Aelin's fate and are left completely gutted with the plot twists that happen in the last 1/4 of the book. Maas also left all the love stories and spice for this book - but not nearly as spicy as ACOTAR. After the amount of time I've invested into this series, it sure better have a happy ending 🙏
