Kingdoms collide in Sarah J. Maas' epic fifth installment in the global best-selling Throne of Glass series.
The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those don't.
As the kingdoms of Erilea fracture around her, enemies must become allies if Aelin is to keep those she loves from falling to the dark forces poised to claim her world. With war looming on all horizons, the only chance for salvation lies in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.
Aelin's journey from assassin to queen has entranced millions across the globe, and this fifth installment will leave fans breathless. Will Aelin succeed in keeping her world from splintering, or will it all come crashing down?

!!!!!!!!Semi spoiler Alert!!!!!!!!
Couple things bothered me, because they weren't like the first few books a all.
1) So for some reason this book "gods damn" as everyone's emphasis words no matter the situation which was kind of annoying.
2) Everyone is having sex, this book has several very descriptive sex scenes... sure people messed around before and the second book I believe had some . But this book is ridiculous.
Overall I'd probably give it 3 1/2 stars, but since I can't , I'll give it 4, since these are basically my problems. Lol Just seems like a YA book, but this is not. Glad I read it before my daughter .
As compared with the others in the series

Let me start by saying, I listen to the audible version so forgive if the spelling of character names are off :-)
Of course we have the Queen of Fire as our main character, however, i have become so invested in our secondary characters. Molun's story with the witches and her 13 was great. My jaw actually dropped with the big revelation about her heritage. The crush between her and Dorian gets a chance to spout into "more". We can feel her trying to decide if she should break away or hold on to what she has been taught to believe.
Illead is still on her journey to find Aelin. She has an unexpected traveling companion in Lorkin. Their story line was done well. But I was truly pissed in the end. It may sound heartless, but she isn't worth what Aelin gives up to save her.
And now let's speak of the tragic ending. I was literally in tears. I cried. For who haven't read the book I won't spoil it. But now I look at boxes in a different light. Thinking of it now makes my heart drop. I refused to count for two days. I went on a counting strike. :-) In all Ms Maas has stunned me. I was upset and angry and sad and something close to agony. Which is probably why I will pre-order the next book the second it is available

I do think it could have been shorter and the length of the last books makes me hesitate. If not for the audiobook, I probably wouldn't have made it. The narrator did a fantastic job with the different characters and scenes. Highly recommend listening.
Lots going on
