Historia
"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Story for 2nd graders
Revisado: 03-18-25
The premise could have been good, but it was very slow, the character’s comments seem babyish, and the character development was completely missing. It was free so I really tried to give it a go. I gave up.

Constantly confused
Revisado: 01-23-25
I often love when authors voice their own books, but this one left me feeling nonplussed. He’s great at pronunciation, but it lacked excitement and momentum. I kept losing focus and forgetting which character was which. And while I liked the main characters, not enough to miss them.
In addition, all the little references to sex acts were a bit weird for me. Not my cup of tea, I guess.
I like detective stories with quirky characters, and can run through a series in a week. This is where this series ends for me though.

Shallowness of characters you can expect of Lust in the Dust
Revisado: 10-28-24
I’ve avoided this book a while based on adjectives (like seductive) in the reviews that made me suspect there were sex scenes in the book. But when it became free, I decided to see what the story was- maybe I was wrong? The story did not feel compelling, but was generally plodding. The history of the faeries was revealed so slow as to be painful. I finally returned it when it did, in fact, come to the sex scene. Nothing about the book before made me feel like the characters should be that attached. I certainly did not feel attached to any of them. Twilight, on the other hand, has as least some build up and better character development- and it avoided the grinding. Geez.

Historia
Los Angeles, 1920s: Socialite Mirielle West's days are crowded with shopping, luncheons, and prepping for the myriad glittering parties she attends with her actor husband, Charlie. She's been too busy to even notice the small patch of pale skin on the back of her hand. Other than an occasional overindulgence in gin and champagne, which helps to numb the pain of recent tragedy, Mirielle is the picture of health. But her doctor insists on more tests, and Mirielle reluctantly agrees. The diagnosis - leprosy - is devastating and unthinkable.

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Swearing, Everyone Having Sex, Strange Ending
Revisado: 07-01-24
If you like swearing (a LOT of swearing) , everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) sleeping around (which they only use the “f” word for), including while married, or are turned on by people choking someone while doing aforementioned, this book is for you. Also, apparently almost all guys are terrible, though I would suggest the habits of the females not better.
SPOILER ALERT(sort of): The ending (where the murderer is revealed) seemed ridiculous. The murderer does not seem realistic. And it’ll ruin one of the only good characters for you.
Is the writer talented? Yes? Also gross? Also yes. I would suggest this book to literally no one I know. You need to see a priest after reading this one.

A Pleasant Read
Revisado: 05-17-24
This book was an easy well-flowing read. I seem to have come into a series in the middle with this one, but it did just fine standing alone. I need books to keep me awake during menial tasks, and I always enjoy books that make you feel like you are spending time with new friends.
The killer, though, seemed a bit of a stretch to me. I didn’t feel quite convinced they had the reasonings for it all. It wouldn’t stop me from recommending it though.

Historia
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

Just a Good Well Thought Out Shortish Read
Revisado: 02-08-24
This author is just smart and I like how she thinks. The only thing I didn’t like were the occasional swear words. This book could have been perfect for all ages but for that and the occasional mention about being a security bot and not a sex bot. Sigh.
