My introduction read for this author.
Revisado: 03-20-25
Overall, I really enjoyed this audiobook. I met the author at comicon in Seattle a few weeks ago, and that’s how I discovered it. The storyline is built gradually across the entire book to give a good picture of the characters and the world and an introduction to the magic system. I’m looking forward to the next book that I will start tomorrow.

Historia
As student armies clash in intense group battles and Connor struggles to leverage a pitifully underpowered army against overwhelming competition, the intrigue at the Carraig intensifies to deadly new levels. There are secrets at the Carraig buried for centuries that could shake the nation to its roots. Once Connor pokes that hornets' nest, the Tallan's own fury will be unleashed. To survive, Connor must outsmart conniving noble houses, dodge international assassins, survive unbelievably bad poetry, and risk exploring new powers that were concealed for very good reasons.

Revisado: 09-06-24
First a shoot out to Joshua Story for his amazing job reading this series! He does a fantastic job with the voices!
I am sad that I didn't get introduced to Frank Morin until last fall. I have enjoyed his books a lot! This volume added more information to the existing story line, put in a lot of character development, and left you wanting more! So many unanswered questions! WHY!!! Thank you, Frank!

Historia
Connor's supposed to be dead. He's not very good at it. He did save his village...by destroying it. And the armies vying to control his powerful curse think he's dead. But he needs patronage from a high lord or his curse will transform him into a raging monster. So Connor creeps back into the land of the living, joining his Aunt Ailsa at the Carraig, the school of the Petralists, hoping somehow to find patronage on his terms. He should have known better. At the Carraig it's all about the game, and the stakes have never been higher.

Great continuation of the story
Revisado: 08-28-24
I neglected to mention in my review of the first book that the narrator does a fantastic job.
Continuation of the story brings more insights into the world and continues character building.
Great story but not one to be read without reading the first one and continuing onto the third one.

Connor turns 16 tomorrow. Should be a simple thing until his small town is invaded. Armies clash, superhuman Petralists step out of legend, and layers of deadly intrigue shatter Connor's simple life. As I started the audio book with my 16 year old son, I was not sure that we were the target audience. As we continued to listen, we got sucked in and became invested in the story. We were sad when the book was over and can't wait to find out what happens next.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

I did not realize that this book was going to be pornographic
Revisado: 10-07-16
I read the previous volumes of the series and although there was a few spots but I fast-forward, the excessive amounts of swearing and graphic sexual interaction was unacceptable.
