A genius
Revisado: 06-19-21
Mr. Sowell is a gift . Well researched , well thought out , and concise In his thinking , and writing. We as a people would do well to carefully consider the points he makes. He has sounded the alarm , now it is up to others to heed the warning . As President Reagan said , we are always but one generation away from losing our most precious gift , that of freedom.
These essays were written some 35 years ago, but are more relevant than ever. One only needs to look around , to see all we have lost.

Historia
Sarah Huckabee Sanders served as White House press secretary for President Donald J. Trump from 2017 to 2019. A trusted confidante of the president, Sanders advised him on everything from press and communications strategy to personnel and policy. She was at the president's side for two and a half years, battling with the media, working with lawmakers and CEOs, and accompanying the president on every international trip, including dozens of meetings with foreign leaders - all while unfailingly exhibiting grace under pressure.

Good listen .
Revisado: 09-23-20
Mrs. Sanders does an excellent job here . I enjoyed listening to her story , and sharing some heartfelt moments only added to her story .
As to her relationship with President Trump, she reaffirmed what others who know him have said . Much like the President, I too know how the New York world thinks , due to years of visits to the unglamorous side of the rotten Apple. Unlike him , I do not miss it.
The fact is , he sees both , or if you like , all sides of NY now .
I can excuse his demeanor , because he is pretty normal, by NY standards . And those are the only standards by which you can judge him. That there is a kind , and caring side of his personality, that is also NY. But it’s a hidden side , that you only get to see after winning the trust of a New Yorker .
And like the President, I think she would be an excellent Governor for Arkansas.

Ok
Revisado: 09-13-20
Well, it’s ok. Narration wasn’t to my liking , I’m sorry to say . Perhaps the author should have done it himself.
As to the book itself , it focuses on a single theme , and does not stray from it at all. Hammering a point home for eight hours seems a little excessive , but , hey , maybe some “ Normals “ need that . I consider myself normal , and didn’t need all that. I kinda expected some humor sprinkled in , to lighten the hammering up a little , but if it happened , I was too obtuse to get it .
I read the author’s columns on Townhall , so am somewhat familiar with him , though when he first appeared , I probably passed him by.
He ends the book with an either or scenario , and I doubt that will pan out , though I wish it would .
This is my first time reading one of his books. I’ll probably read at least one more , if it has a different narrator. We’ll see how that pans out.
But I will read his columns .

Historia
First published in 1952, Witness came on the heals of America's trial of the century, in which Whittaker Chambers accused Alger Hiss, a full-standing member of the political establishment, of spying for the Soviet Union. In this penetrating philosophical memoir, Chambers recounts the famous case as well as his own experiences as a Communist agent in the United States, his later renunciation of communism, and his conversion to Christianity.

A timeless story
Revisado: 03-20-19
Perhaps I should have titled it as An intellectual discovers he is a common man.
Nonetheless, it is a good read. There are parts that are slow , for me , such as his brothers suicide, and what led up to it. But , overall , the story flows well, and while I wonder why Mr. Chambers laid it out the way he did , because after almost 30 hrs of listening , over many weeks , the beginning he started with is almost forgotten. And it is the essence of the story.
Part of the reason I decided to tackle such a long read , was my interest in discovering why the press , and the left , ( they are the same ) so Hated Richard Nixon. I found part of the reason here.
Too, many questions about communism, and why it draws the people it does , have been answered here. I could well understand why it draws the very poor , and little educated , but what was its attraction to those who are intelligent enough , and relatively well off ? They should know better. Here I found my answers .
Overall, I would recommend this book . I found the end very satisfying. While I wished it were shorter , as it’s length is off-putting, I can understand why it is so long. Mr. Chambers feels he must explain himself , wholly , so the reader might understand why he has done what he did with his life. In that context , I found it satisfying.
I think you might, also.

Conrad Black, bestselling author of Franklin Delano Roosevelt: Champion of Freedom and Richard M. Nixon: A Life in Full, turns his attention to his "friend" President Donald J. Trump and provides the most intriguing and significant analysis yet of Trump's political rise. Ambitious in intellectual scope, contrarian in many of its opinions, and admirably concise, this is surely set to be one of the most provocative political books you are likely to listen to this year.

Interesting
Revisado: 07-04-18
I have not read this author before , but was pleasantly surprised . I believe he was even-handed in his treatment of his subject .
I listened to this book over a period of about 2 weeks , so the first parts are a dim memory now, but would not have continued unless I thought it worthy of my time , and money.
He seems to tell a pretty straight story of Trump , which is , in itself , refreshing. Given the forces stacked against him , and the way Trump has dealt with them , anyone on either side of the political isle who disparages his intelligence, should that a good, long look in the mirror. Perhaps they mistake themselves for Trump, and so their comments are really directed at themselves , not Trump.
All in all , I find this book to be interesting and informative. I learned things about Trump I never knew.
I will strongly consider more purchases of this authors writings.
Give it a listen , providing you do not have an irrational hatred for Trump. If you do, it might drive you over the edge. Snowflakes should definitely overlook this book , unless their hiddie-hole is nearby.

Long winded , lots of stories
Revisado: 06-15-18
Listened to this twice . It’s very good . The good Dr. likes to start at an evolution point of millions of years , then jumps to the Bible. That seems a conflict . You can’t have it both ways , IMO.
The book is over 15 hrs ; that seems a bit much , but it was a good read . The stories seem to wander a bit , but he eventually gets to his point .
And he makes it forcefully, with passion and emotion.
This is my first read from this author , and I’ll probably try another .
It’s no wonder he has so many fans . He is not afraid to lay out thoughts , mostly , and does it very well .
Give it a read . You’ll learn a lot !

Historia
When the British fought the young United States during the War of 1812, they knew that taking the mouth of the Mississippi River was the key to crippling their former colony. Capturing the city of New Orleans and stopping trade up the river sounded like a simple task - New Orleans was far away from Washington, out of sight and out of mind for the politicians. What the British didn't count on was the power of General Andrew Jackson.

breathlessly written and read
Revisado: 02-16-18
I enjoyed this audiobook very much. That it is fast-paced , there is no doubt . Perhaps a little too much so. Nonetheless, a very well written , and I’m sure heavily researched book. I learned much about Jackson , and his life , that I never knew.
Mr. Kilmeade brings a sense of urgency to this story, and his narration. Having seen him on TV , this was not all that surprising , but it did make me stop at times , as I sometimes felt I was rushing over a precipice.
I would recommend this book , to anyone with even a mild interest in American history, as it fills in much that is unknown about the War of 1812.
One warning , though. If you know the words to Johnny Horton’s “Battle of New Orleans “, don’t be surprised if you find yourself bursting into song , at times .

Life-long liberal Kirsten Powers blasts the Left's forced march towards conformity in an exposé of the illiberal war on free speech. No longer champions of tolerance and free speech, the "illiberal Left" now viciously attacks and silences anyone with alternative points of view. Powers asks, "Whatever happened to free speech in America?"

Reminds of Ann Coulter
Revisado: 03-06-17
That may not be fair, though like Ms. Coulter , Ms. Powers cites a string of facts the Il-Liberal Left cannot dispute . And, she demonstrates their heartlessness by simply quoting them. 😀
All in all, I found it a very good read , though for those of us who have paid attention, she just reinforces what we already know about the Il-Liberal Left.
I'd recommend it.

In the 2014 New York Times best seller Jesus on Trial, David Limbaugh made a case for the Gospels as hard evidence of the existence of God, drawing on his own spiritual journey from skeptic to believer. Now Limbaugh looks deeper into the scriptures and discovers that Jesus Christ's very being reveals itself in a close reading of the sacred texts.

Too well researched
Revisado: 08-13-16
Mr. Limbaugh knows the Bible very well. It shows in all the references he gives to Scripture , to prove his points , of which there are numerous. While I do not doubt for a second they are necessary , they are not conducive to an audible book. Perhaps they would be better as footnotes , than in the text of the book. At least , as far as an audible book is concerned. This is not unheard of. I do muti-tasking , I listen to these books while doing other things. That is the whole purpose of an audiobook. While I wish I could sit down in a chair, with my Bible next to me , to look up every reference to the Bible he makes , that is not possible, nor necessary. Mr. Limbaugh's reputation precedes this book. He is, after all , also an attorney, in good standing. I doubt he would write anything he does not believe he can prove, at least for a God-fearing Christian.
The narration was superb , given all of the above.
If, as stated above , you have the time , and inclination to look up every reference in the book , I'm sure you would come away with a deeper understanding of God's Word , and be better for it.
Finally , I believe Mr. Limbaugh proves his point, that much in the Old Testament does , indeed , point to Jesus , which I did not realize until listening to his book.
Well worth your time.

Weaker than expected
Revisado: 06-17-16
This is the third in the Space Trilogy. I expected a glorious ending. It fell flat, for me, at least. The author I believe , intended to wrap it all up , but , after the first two, expectations are High. Perhaps Mr. Lewis contemplated a fourth book in this series. If so, he never got around to it.
While all around , it was an amazing Trilogy , I am nonetheless disappointed.
Do not get me wrong . One the whole , it is an amazing series. The breath of imagination in this series is astounding , give the time they were written. Nonetheless , I expected a glorious battle , ending in the ultimate defeat of Satan. Alas , instead , only the defeat , and destruction of his earthly tools was provided.
Written at the time of the Nazi defeat , I guess I can understand that.
And , given the hints , at the end , of a new beginning on Earth , I still wonder , was Satan's rule on Earth vanquished forever?
The series is still highly recommended.
The breathtaking vistas that are painted with a pen, are a marvel of a creative genius at work.
The dictation of the reader is incredible. His breath and range of voices , while clearly masculine, lends credence to even the female voices in the story.
If you are a lover of science fiction, as I was , in an earlier time, or a searcher for answers , or even more , this series will thrill you.
