It's every novelist's greatest fear: pouring their blood, sweat, and tears into writing hundreds of pages only to realize that their story has no sense of urgency, no internal logic, and so is a page-one rewrite. The prevailing wisdom in the writing community is that there are just two ways around this problem: pantsing (winging it) and plotting (focusing on the external plot).

Insanely useful
Revisado: 09-12-24
I was struggling to figure out characters and scenes to write, this helped me realize I knew more than I thought I did. The approach to writing helped organize my thoughts and plot/story ideas and create characters with real depth. I’ve listened to each chapter at least three times. It’s not heavy on the brain science part which didn’t bother me at all but offers enough to see how we live with stories.

Book was great every part was helpful. On my second listening now. Virtual reader was better than some human readers lol it’s a little robotic at first but fades as you get used to it and sounds natural enough

Will implement and update
Revisado: 05-25-20
I have two other books by Chris Fox that I found helpful and I was looking for a way to do market research. This was a great and enlightening listen.
I’ll be implementing the steps for the next several months and will update my review then. My concern is that this was written in 2016 and although ebooks are still popular, I wonder if the criteria or methods for identifying exploitable gaps need updating.
We shall see! Good luck to you guys and happy writing!

Helpful and to the point
Revisado: 06-16-17
Enjoyed it! I'm a beginning writer. This was very helpful and to-the-point. I was hesitant to purchase another book from this author bc I felt he sounded a bit snarky in my other purchase. Glad I did! Will definitely be getting the whole Red Sneaker series.

Historia
A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. He is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock. Forty years earlier, a man committed suicide in a stolen car at this farm at the end of the road. Like a fuse on a firework, his death lit a touchpaper and resonated in unimaginable ways. The darkness was unleashed, something scary and thoroughly incomprehensible to a little boy. And Lettie - magical, comforting, wise beyond her years - promised to protect him, no matter what.

Returning to the territory he so brilliantly explored in his masterful New York Times best seller American Gods, the incomparable Neil Gaiman offers up a work of dazzling ingenuity, a kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth that is at once startling, terrifying, exhilarating, and fiercely funny, a true wonder of a novel that confirms Stephen King's glowing assessment of the author as "a treasure house of story, and we are lucky to have him."
