Sadly last book for me because audible changes narrator!
Revisado: 04-25-25
This has been a wonderful series that I have thoroughly enjoyed and I was so looking forward to the remaining books. Unfortunately Wendy Wolfson does not narrate the remaining books and she was replaced by a absolutely horrible narrator that is impossible to listen too with any enjoyment at all. When the narrator of Her Royal Spyness books sadly died audible replaced her with a narrator who mage a huge effort of sounding the same as the previous narrator and keep the personality of the characters and she pulled it off. Audible does not seem to understand that the voice of the narrator is as important as the book itself! The narrator the replaced Wendy Wolfson with sounds like a horse crow and the characters sound so different it is impossible to get used to! If audible keeps replacing narrators in the middle of a series then they need to make an effort to find somebody that sounds the same. If they don't even try to do this or keep trying to peddle AI narrators then I will be buying a lot fewer books from audible in the future! They first thing I do before buying an audio book is listen to the narrator so I can decide if I like them. I have refrained from buying countless books because of a bad narrator! So when you find a good one like Wendy Wolfson you don't want her to be replaced mid series! So yes I can warmly recommend the well written books and plots in this series but you might want to listen to the narrator sample before you wenture on to buy the next book in this series because you might find that you can't stand it either and decide to get the kindle version if you want to finish the series!

When the body of gentlewoman is found in a Romani caravan, and a second woman from the village of Birch Hill goes missing, Redmond and Haze must peel back the layers of lies, prejudice, and misdirection to discover who’s truly behind the crimes. With little connection between the victims, no obvious motive, and few clues, the case is their most challenging to date. Can they solve it before the killer strikes again? Perfect for fans of Anne Perry and C.S. Harris.

Wonderful historical "timetravel"
Revisado: 09-07-24
I love everything about these series. I mostly listen to murder mysteries set in either the US or Britain between 1800 and 1935. I love traveling back in time especially to Victorian times. This is a wonderful series and the main characters really come to life. I highly recommend!

It's London in 1876, and the whole city is abuzz with the enigmatic disappearance of a famous foreign pianist. Lenox has an eye on the matter - as a partner in a now-thriving detective agency, he's a natural choice to investigate. Just when he's tempted to turn his focus to it entirely, however, his grieving brother asks him to come down to Sussex, and Lenox leaves the metropolis behind for the quieter country life of his boyhood. Or so he thinks. In fact, something strange is afoot in Markethouse.

Timetravel to enjoy times gone by!
Revisado: 08-12-24
This is my favorite series on Audible! It holds consistently a very high quality and the superb narrator makes the story come to life. It really transports you back in time and I especially love that the author wraps up the stories about the main characters lives and don't just finish the books abruptly when the murder is solved. Historical crime really doesn't get better than this!

There's a saying in Barstow, California, a decaying city in the scorching Mojave desert . . . The Interstate here only goes in one direction: Away. But it's the only place where ex-LAPD detective Beth McDade, after a staggering fall from grace, could get another badge . . . and a shot at redemption. Over a century ago, and just a few miles further into the bleak landscape, a desperate stranger ended up in Calico, a struggling mining town, also hoping for a second chance.

Revisado: 04-02-24
I never listen to science fiction and bought this book by mistake thinking it was a murder mystery. Since I could not return it I decided to listen to it. I'm very glad I did because it turned out to be one of the best books I've listened to! I loved the story in the mining town and the awesome way it was wowen together with present time. It was all so smartly explained you weren't left with any taste of inplausabiliy afterwards. The author really thought of a way to tie up everything nicely. The only negative thing is that there does not seem to be a sequel planned cause I would buy that in a heartbeat!

Awesome book
Revisado: 03-24-23
I really enjoy these books and the performance is fantastic. This particular book was very entertaining and I love the time period it is set in.
There is only one little drawback with these books and that is that since the performance is so fantastic with so many different voices for different people, the volume varies quite a lot so one has to set the volume rather loud to hear the lovest character voices. This means it's hard to listen to it before bed. That being said all the different voices made of course by the same performer really adds to the feeling of reality.

I really enjoy this series. One of my absolute favorites! I love the time period and the combination of murder and romance. There was one annoying thing about this particular book though. The volume fluctuated a little too much. So listening at night trying to sleep was a bit hard because of that. Otherwise Perfect!

Revisado: 10-07-22
Nice Cozy story. The only drawback is that these books are very descriptive in every detail so it's more like a theater piece than a movie, meaning the dialog between characters takes overhand over scenic descriptions. That means that there is so much dialog that the actual progression of events is super slow. I like the books because it's my favorite era but in terms of action and emotions for example Veronika Speedwell series and Royal Spyness series are far superior!
