“Then the Hail Came” is the true story of George Steffanos on his quest to become more than just a two pack a day looser by finally completing something significant in his life - The Appalachian Trail. It is true that everyone who hikes the A.T. has their share of misfortune, but for George, it seems like a daily occurrence, yet he continues to put his best foot forward. Virtual voice is awful
Revisado: 04-18-25
The story is interesting but I hate the virtual voice. As others have mentioned, this AI voice mispronounces words. It calls the AT the "at." It pronounces "minute" in Minute Rice as "minute," with the accent on the second syllable and a long u. I could go on. We need a human reader who can understand the word being used, look it up if they don't, and pronounce it correctly. If this is the future for Audible books, I'll probably have to quit listening to them. In addition, it takes employment from voice actors.

Historia
There's trouble brewing at the Village Blend. Business is booming--but Clare's customers are starting to die. Soon after stopping at the coffeehouse, a regular jumps to her death in the subway. Or was she pushed? Detective Quinn is convinced that someone has an axe to grind, especially after the "suicide" of another female customer. Unfortunately, his prime suspect is Bruce Bowman--the new man in Clare's life. Bruce is the perfect blend of rugged good looks and potent personality.

Not for me
Revisado: 10-16-19
I quit reading this after Chapter 2 because it kept going into the mind of a psychopath, something I find very upsetting. I like a cozy mystery to be less intense and stay in the minds of the benign characters. I listened to the first book in the series but don't recall it going into the killer's mind more than a time or two..
