This definitely is not what I am used to. It is a compilation of short stories put together to make one book. I enjoyed some characters and didn't like others, which is probably the point. I wished things had turned out differently for the main antagonist of the book. And for some stories you wish they would have gone on with the character just because you thought there could be more. Without giving too much away I really want to know what happens with the crazy woman who was a member of a different book club.
The one thing I really enjoyed was the different stories from the different writers and seeing how they all came together to make one story really was phenomenal.

Great story but AI voice hurts it

I have listened to all of the stories in this series because I like the story line; however, the artificial voice is horrible. An audio book should not be read by a virtual voice because it misreads the story. There is no inflection or feeling from the characters it is portraying and the words are read literally without the fact that some words can be read differently depending on the context of the sentence.
If I paid for the books I would have returned them because of the virtual voice. It detracts from a good story line.

OMG!! I couldn't stop laughing

First, Thomas Prescott without the humor would probably be a good detective, but with the humor he is just awesome!! This book deals with cultural issues in such a way that you can't get mad if you choose to get stuck on race. At times, I could see myself sitting at the feet of my relatives who were recounting the stories of how number running began in our community and at other times I was just literally on the floor laughing at some of the situations Thomas' was in. Actually, I was laughing in the airport so loud at one point I think people were turning around looking at me. Johnny Heller does an awesome job with his narration, which if this book were ready by anyone else it might not be as hilarious.

It had a lot of twists and turns. Just when I had it figured out I was thrown a curve ball. Very good book.

Awesome....exciting...funny

This was a refreshing and funny collection of stories. Rarely do you find a book where you like most of the characters. I was constantly cheering on Ginger and Rhino, Victoria and the other bit players.

History buffs

I love the work he puts in to bring these stories to life. As always Scott Brick is great. And I like the character Cotton and his friends, they are complex in themselves.

Couldn't put it down!!

I listened to this audio book and finished it in less than two days. It was so good I couldn't put it down. It was funny, sad, intriguing and nail biting at times. I loved it! Can't wait to see some of the characters again especially the older ladies 😁

Skip chapter 6

The narration needs to be edited in chapter 6 as well as what appears to be glitches. Story is not bad once you get past that.
