Historia
It's the untold story of the renegade burger chain that evokes a passionate following unlike any other. In fast-food corporate America, In-N-Out Burger stands apart. Begun in a tiny shack in the shadow of World War II, this family-owned chain has steadfastly refused to franchise or be sold. It is a testament to old-fashioned values and reminiscent of a simpler time when people, loyalty, and a freshly made, juicy hamburger meant something.

I am from the Midwest so when I first tried In-N-Out when I moved to San Diego I was immediately hooked!!! I love their food but probably more than that I love how they treat their associates, excellent pay and great benefits, which is really unheard of in the fast food world. I did enjoy reading about the family and the trials and tribulations they went through to keep their business going. It's just a really delicious American Tale👍🏻 🍔

Little disappointed that I had to purchase this book, should have been one of Audibles plus catalog books. I Just felt like this was more of a book about improving one's life not just their memory and brain power. Thought there would be some tips for retaining more info, but that's not what I heard in the information given.

Historia
"Call me Ishmael." Thus starts the greatest American novel. Melville said himself that he wanted to write "a mighty book about a mighty theme" and so he did. It is a story of one man's obsessive revenge-journey against the white whale, Moby-Dick, who injured him in an earlier meeting. Woven into the story of the last journey of The Pequod is a mesh of philosophy, rumination, religion, history, and a mass of information about whaling through the ages.

Disappointment
Revisado: 01-04-22
I realize that this was written in a different time in our literature history, but I really found this to be very monotonous and extremely boring. I have read Dickens as well which is a 19th century author and I find his writing to be much more entertaining. I was really hoping this would be much better, "Call me Ishmael" well...call me a cab, cause I got to get away from this book🙄

Historia
Every year has its share of notable events, but some years seem to capture the essence of a decade in a handful of months. The year 1954 is one such year. It began in January with a celebrity marriage heard round the world and then progressed through a series of major political, social, and cultural milestones that would echo through the next several decades. The years following World War II were a time of increased wealth and confidence, years that saw the rise of a solid, increasingly powerful middle class in America.

One of the best Great Courses I have listened to!
Revisado: 01-04-22
I loved how this Professor kept my intrigue and attention with his pure passion for this content. I could really tell that he wanted the listener to know how very important this year was in the 20th century. I had no idea how much evolved in just one year in our country! I very much enjoyed discussing this with my parents, I will definitely be listening to this course again in the future. Highly recommend!

Rather boring
Revisado: 01-04-22
I was expecting this subject to be more entertaining, but the Professor really made this rather boring. To be honest though given the subject content an the ramifications and turmoil that surrounds this time in history I don't think there's much else the Professor could do to enhance the listeners attention.

Steve Jobs worked for Atari? Kick Ass!!!
Revisado: 01-04-22
I had no idea that Steve Jobs worked for Atari, no wonder why it kicked so much ass! I love the karma of how AT&T eventually got reimbursed so to speak for the illegal phone calls Jobs and Wazniak made with their blue boxes🤣

I had no idea that so much of the monster culture in America was tied in with race and politics. Correction though, the girl who was stabbed 19 times in the Slenderman attack survived the stabbings, just barely, but she is alive today thank goodness!

Everyone has to read this book!!!
Revisado: 08-18-21
I read the 1st edition of this book before I listened to it. I was so enthralled and intrigued from the opening into this world the author has created called The Four Myths! From the opening the author did such a magnificent job of describing the characters and the narrator did outstanding work with all the different accents and emotions conveyed in the author's dialogue. Yes this does have a National Treasure, Indiana Jones and The Stand type of vibe, any objections? I think not, I mean who wouldn't want to be pulled into a world where good and evil collide into a battle for humanity??? Not only is this book utterly entertaining and fascinating, it makes the reader look inward and even self reflect on one's self. This is more than a book, this a life lesson that we all must learn, or else we are all going to turn to dust.
Thank you so much to the author for this escape from reality??? Also a very big thank you to the narrator who should be given very high praise for such a daunting task to perform such great dialogue that gave me an even more of an entrance to the author's world. Once more to the author, now, I feel clean.

After his December 2003 arrest, registered nurse Charlie Cullen was quickly dubbed "The Angel of Death" by the media. But Cullen was no mercy killer, nor was he a simple monster. He was a favorite son, husband, beloved father, best friend, and celebrated caregiver. Implicated in the deaths of as many as 300 patients, he was also perhaps the most prolific serial killer in American history.

Scary underbelly of healthcare exposed!
Revisado: 04-04-20
This was an excellent book that leaves you wondering how in the hell hospital administrators wear suits instead of scrubs! The suits will protect the money, the ones in scrubs will protect the patient. This would have never been made into a book if the suits would have actually cared more about caring for people than their pockets! Narrator was intriguing, she did a great job with the male voices as well. Can’t wait to see how Eddie Remayne portrays Charles!
