Need more money so a book with new characters
Revisado: 02-18-24
after a good start to the series we get this disappointing book that removes it's self from the main story to add fluff and girl bossing to sell another book in the series, before it ends. bored me to tears.

Story of a Karen
Revisado: 12-17-23
10 hrs in and im simply dreading going any further.. Karen has just completely ruined the story so far.All the other characters matched well with fun space pirate hi jinx ,but then...just imagine a band of space pirates that take on a nun and lets her dictate the morality of every encounter... while giving lectures about doing good for the galaxy.. yeah you guessed it , boring ..

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Pretty good first book,Series is questionable
Revisado: 03-04-23
Narrator is great and without him the books would be DOA...
this first book does a great job of getting you hooked, as Joe and Skippy make the series.
the issue is im now 7 books in and the story has little in the way of progression.. and the great skippy/ Joe banter gets old and boring when thats all the books having going for them. book 3.5, and 6 (5.5) dont even follow the main storyline..
On top of slow story, Each book is getting more of "a 120 lb woman can do anything a 220 lb man can do" Mary Sue feel to them .. while the author lectures you about how great woman are and any society that doesn't put woman first is destine to fall. im trying to look past this all while enjoying Skippy's Awesomeness but it gets tougher by the book.
Last, but not least... later book reviews seem biased by either people who dont pay attention and like stories to not move to a conclusion or they are bots. as many of the reviews dont seem to even match the books. super generic, good book, great character, etc .
book 6 had many people unhappy including myself yet the reviews show nearly 5/5 stars makes one wonder if amazon is allowing fake reviews like they do for their products they sell...

Historia
United Nations Special Operations Command sent an elite expeditionary force of soldiers and pilots out on a simple recon mission, and somehow along the way they sparked an alien civil war. Now the not-at-all-merry band of pirates is in desperate trouble, again. Their stolen alien starship is falling apart, thousands of light years from home. The ancient alien AI they nicknamed Skippy is apparently dead, and even if they can by some miracle revive him, he might never be the same.

Book 5 , set up to be GOAT , flops
Revisado: 03-04-23
this book had SOOO much potential to be great... but just flopped. story progression was very slow and even though they went to a place (ancients base protected by sentinels) that no one has gone to since the ancients disappeared.. no real insight or knowledge was made..
at this point the story is becoming rinse repeat with jokes and skippy/ joe.. good writers answer questions and then make new ones to replace, in this case we are stagnant...
as a side note the next book, book 6 is another 3.5 money grab, very little skippy joe.. and was a big disappointment.mostly female characters telling males how lame they are, id skippy it, unless you really like mary sues..
im about to give book 7 a try but if there isnt some good progression and some questions beginning to be answered about skippy and the ancients ill likey quit the series..

Title should have been, brave and stunning
Revisado: 03-04-23
The Good is the Narrator past that it was forgettable.
So book 7 ,back to the mostly woman led army group from planet paradise, that's right the 120lb woman are stronger faster, and smarter than their 220 lb male counter parts in the military, already yawn... then to top it off, its a 15 hour lecture of how brave and stunning these woman are.. note to author: if you have to tell use how great they are every 15 minutes ,then your doing a crap job of writing them..
i get it there are only so many ways you can have the merry band of pirates get into ridiculous situations.. but that's been the main story.. this should have been a .5 book as 3.5 was, but instead it was more a money grab.. The Story is becoming less interesting, as for several books has been getting stagnant.. the slow progression of new details is getting boring.. but i guess that is how you make a 16 book series ? .. add lots of fluff, with little to no story progression.
the struggle to get though this book has made me think twice about buying any more in the series.

Historia
Lieutenant Callum Harper hadn't intended on punching his commanding officer quite so hard. But maybe it wasn't such a bad turn of events. Court-martialed and dumped on a reject raft bound for Earth, Cal feels optimistic about a life where getting blown up, shot, or even eaten is altogether less of a concern. And, more importantly, a life where the only person he's responsible for is himself.

Enjoyed it. but magic was pointless
Revisado: 10-15-20
i really enjoyed this book, i especially enjoyed the character interactions/banter, and how it was described from the main character Falcio's perspective. the many fight scenes were described great as i could imagine seeing the fights, the story had decent twists, and kept me interested though out the book. i also really enjoyed the Narrator Joe Jameson and felt he was a good fit. My two biggest complaints would be the magic system , and the fact that it maybe needed another 2-3 hrs to properly setup the backstory and antagonists better. although there was talk of magic early on in the book it seemed to be more like magic potions, very rare and none of the main characters had much interaction with it. Unfortunately the end of the book used it more liberally and honestly took away from the story a bit as certain characters seemed to magically know where and when things would happen, without any real reason as to why (magic, the Devine , a really good guess ?).
