ai voiceover is monotonous, making dialogue scenes confusing. odd emphasis on certain phrases, and switches pronunciation sentence to sentence for some words (bow). can't take it any more.

She sees her life with a new perspective

it is hard to talk about this book without giving it all away, but it has to do with Abby re-evaluating her life, past and present, with the perspective that her best friend (now passed) is not the friend Abby thought she was. beautifully written, you can see how Abby is mistreated by many around herself, how she gaslights herself into accepting it, and how she eventually finds herself in the end. Sad, lovely, full of self loathing and with painful perception, the narration *makes* this story, and the narrator sells it splendidly. excellent read if you love a tale of dreadful reality for the female ugly friend.

outstanding concept

it is a compilation of years of many different kinds of information put together in a way we can understand. it is difficult to understand the world before during and after your own life. and it is fascinating to see how the cycles repeat generational over time. I've had many ideas and thoughts about humanity and history but this puts them all together in an amazing way.

Fantasy with a Nostalgic Feel

I stumbled upon Dragon Vein, and knowing nothing about it I am immediately in love with it. It feels like a story written before the mid-1990's. This story does not have a vast majority of the fantasy tropes that are common place post-2000's, making it a refreshing experience.

It has some men-writing-women moments, and it calls Native Americans "Indians", but otherwise it feels ageless. I am glad to have stumbled upon a magical fantasy world of Dragons that is both complex and long, but simple where it needs to be and decently paced. Exciting without the extreme drama, angst, and life-and-death dread that most current fantasy novels have. I love it and will continue on!!!

Crazy Summary, Excellent Experience

You cannot describe what this story is in a few short sentences; the concept is too abstract for that. But if you are willing to suspend disbelief and enjoy a fantasy tale, this one is thoroughly excellent. The Characters drive this story of Mecha and Chinese Palace Drama, so being new to either of those concepts will not diminish the experience of this fantastic story.

A Disappearance Mystery that Goes Down Smooth.

Not over the top, overly dramatic, or overly cliche. This was a refreshing read after so many crazy murder thriller books flooded the market. An unusual story that is beautifully told and knows when to hold the cards, I would easily recxomend this to anyone who loves murder mystery stories.

Non-Chrono. Mystery/Drama Told to Through Letters

Beautiful performance of various letters, diary entries, inquiries, etc. through the mid to late 1800's.

Compelling mystery told out of order, will keep you guessing and shocked at many different turns.

I came in blind, and I get frustrated at the out-of-order sequence of events. Every chapter characters brings up some - 'Horrible thing I Dare not Mention' which gets irritating. I also imagine this is a much better read vs listen, since you can't flip back and re-read events after the twists.

Great story, but not for an impatient person like me. I imagine plenty of people absolutely love this novel story..

If you know the podcast, then you you know what you are going to get. These sassy, quippy, trashy, and classy babes are being who they are as they are, and getting into the more personal and detail events that they have brought up over the course of their podcast. The fact that they are voicing thenselves makes it all so perfect, and a heart warming read ❤
