Virtual voice is inconsistent

Why aren't AI voices edited for pronunciation inconsistencies? Every name is pronounced three or four ways throughout the story, making the listening experience problematic. It's difficult to track who is talking or being talked about.

Good depiction of anxiety

People with anxiety can have romance even though the highs and lows of finding it don’t disappear with meds. I love it! Thank you for continuing to push neurodivergent love stories.

Too drawn out

I agree with previous reviewers from previous books. This series is too drawn out, confusing and the magic system feels inconsistent. I love a good call back but this series seems to confuse details and is frustrating detailed in many places. Not to mention the protagonist seems to keep falling in the same traps and appears weak rather the frickin’ Goddess they claim her to be. Also the last two books built up this “power” was to come into on here birthday on to have it pass with no fanfare. What a let down.

Love the story found the narration distracting

I loved the story. Ky is one of my favorite characters as he seems to be the first deep dive into another culture from the author. However, having flat New England style accents in this story with so many other cultures presented was distracting. The Haka part especially. The rich texture of these “dragons love curve” stories is that we get to see our supernatural friends from all over the world. I was disappointed that the voice actors did not attempt to get the pronunciations and cadences correct. It such a distinct sound and tone that I was disappointed and cringed during those parts.

This was my first time with an AI voice. There were some inflection errors and mispronunciations but no more than mediocre narrators. The story was interesting. I wasn’t sure what to expect nor even if this was the first book. The series order is unclear but I did like this story line. Ember is gonna have his hands full.

Riveting and impressive world building

I binged this book in less than two days. It is a great and imaginative piece of speculative fiction in which the world of magic is so normal. And a wonderful way for POCs to be SEEN in this world.

Thank for the addition of consent

I am so grateful that Anne Rice, “Heard” her audience plea for consent. While I loved the concept behind the original series, the lack of consent made me cringe throughout an otherwise amazing series. But the ways this book considered consent, and how much more enjoyment the slaves and masters receive from it, shows that she did her research fully into the way BDSM s actually works. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

Distracted by reader

The information from this book was largely lost due to the readers weirdly paced speech pattern. There were odd pauses and numerous mispronunciations. His cadence seemed like a really bad Captain Kirk impression.

Fantasy Fantastic

As the second book in a series, I sometimes hate second books, They usually lack something of the first books, but this one did not disappoint. Akata Warrior is giving me all of the joy I felt reading Harry Potter and Lemony Snickets, only it gets to have a character whom I can identify with. The mix of. African. and African American culture, foods, and lore, helped root this book in enough reality that the magical things seemed not only possible but fulling real. The mysticism and religious connections were amazing, and having an African version of the magical world, always seem logical to me. This second book pushed the idea of The characters' evolution as they mature into Leopard People.

Great guide to kink

I liked the organization of this book. The audio version seems a little confusing since each chapter is an essay by a different author. When the voice changed it was a challenge to identify. On at least seven different occasions the editing was poor. And the voice actress even coughed into the mic once. The re-recording of phrases not deleted and coughing were distracting from the content.
