Historia
This is Mitka’s account of facing the past, confronting his captors, connecting with lost relatives, and finding peace in the rediscovery of his origins. For Mitka, this also meant reclaiming his Jewish heritage - a journey that gave him a new sense of purpose and freedom from the lingering effects of trauma that had filled his life to that point. By the end, Mitka’s Secret is less a story of survival and more one of redemption and transformation - from hidden suffering to abundant joy.

Historia
Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

A fun summer read
Revisado: 06-20-23
Sometimes I just need a book that tickles my imagination and sprinkles joy. “How to Date Your Dragon” did it for me. The narrators did Creole and Louisiana drawl well. I loved the characters except for Bael’s cousin-I hated him- and I’m supposed to hate him. I hope she writes him a bad rash in a worse place in the next book. I’m off to create a chocolate rhubarb pie recipe. Enjoy!

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

FairyTale
Revisado: 03-05-23
The characters were rich and developed over time, there were some horrifying scenes, the scenery was fascinating and the tale was told at the right speed. The narrator was skilled. I didn’t like the story, so four stars instead of five.

As is usually the case with good trilogies, this second book deepens plot, grows characters, and stretches the boundaries of it’s built world.. It’s a book best read at a slower pace because seemingly minute details tucked into the relentless unrolling plot become critical later. The narrator uses a regal tempo with frequent pauses to enhance the dramatically slow pace of this traumatic epic.

Historia
A thousand years have passed since a dragon has been seen in the world. Science and technology have replaced magic, which has dwindled until it has become little more than an element of myth and legend. There are those who still have dragon blood flowing through their veins, distant descendants of the mighty creatures of old. These rare humans have the power to cast magic, the power to heal, and the power to craft alchemical weapons capable of starting wars...or ending them.

Historia
Rainn Wilson’s memoir about growing up geeky and finally finding his place in comedy, faith, and life. For nine seasons Rainn Wilson played Dwight Schrute, everyone's favorite work nemesis and beet farmer. Viewers of The Office fell in love with the character and grew to love the actor who played him even more. Rainn founded a website and media company, SoulPancake, that eventually became a best-selling book of the same name. He also started a hilarious Twitter feed (sample tweet: “I'm not on Facebook” is the new “I don't even own a TV”).

Boring Beyond Belief
Revisado: 12-21-21
It’s like watching “The Office” only there’s one character and zero plot. You listen to Dwight ramble which is amusing for the first ten minutes, then you find yourself as annoyed as the characters in the show. This book makes me grouchy.

Bummer.
Revisado: 05-26-17
A long depressing tome padded with unnecessary interpersonal melodrama that ends in a gray self flagellating fizzle. I usually like Maas; this book was as much fun as licking sand.
