I appreciate how this book methodically addresses this topic. Dr Chaffey takes care to represent the major opposing views on the topic in a fair way. I also appreciate the many citations and clear indications when he is speculating.
This is my first time listening to a “virtual voice” title and overall it wasn’t as bad as I expected it might be. There are mispronounced words here and there and the AI struggles with abbreviations and citation shorthand but it is understandable and listenable.

This is an amazing true story that will rival any work of fiction or fantasy for its incredible nature. The will and creative defiance of these POWs seems to know no bounds. If you like history and detailed history you will like this book. For those who don’t know there is also a movie based on these events starring Steve McQueen.
